Earning the way into the Army’s Green Berets, a branch of the Army’s Special Forces, is no easy task. Being a part of a military service as prestigious as the Green Berets branch in the Special Forces is a great aspiration. The great leadership skills, intelligence, and overall drive it takes for a person to achieve this type of rank in the Armed Forces is something that are greatly admired in the United States. This elite group offers safety and security to the citizens of the United States and other countries with its unconventional warfare. The Green Berets is an elite career to aspire to because of the lasting knowledge it instills, the job satisfaction behind what this group works towards, and the unique opportunity that these select few get to experience.
Becoming a part of the Green Berets is no simple task. On average a person serves at least three years in the Army before he can apply to become a member of the Green Berets. The Army sets high standards for those looking to become a part of the Special Forces, some of these are, “you need to be mentally and physically tough, endure difficult training and face all challenges head-on” (Your Most Powerful Weapon Is Your Mind). Some of the other set standards are a person must be between the ages of twenty and thirty, be a citizen of the United States, have a high school diploma, and of course meet the criteria needed to enter Army basic training. The enter any of the Armed Forces a person must take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) which measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. The Army’s Green Berets are not a highly publicized military group. Their focus is stealth, which keeps them out of the media. All of the Armed Services of the United States do an amazing part in protecting and serving the United States. The elite who serve in the Special Forces of the different branches stand for an immense level of strength and dedication. To be a part of the Green Berets is an amazing opportunity that a soldier will carry his entire life, along with the skills he earns.

The United States Army has been a leader in military prowess on the world stage since its inception in 1775, and with such a record, it is reasonably assumed that there must be solid foundation within the organization working to maintain the high level of performance. The Noncommissioned Officer Corps is one institution within the Army that serves as a large portion of this foundation that makes it the fighting force that it has always been, and the noncommissioned officers have been an integral piece since the very inception of the Army. The Prussian General Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, organizer of the Noncommissioned Officer Corps, encapsulated this idea when he coined the noncommissioned officer (NCO) as the backbone of the Army. (Arms, 1991) In an Army that is continuously adjusting to world around it while maintaining its status as the military leader to all other nations, the Noncommissioned Officer Corps has always provided the platform for continuity through a growing rank system based on its original core, an evolving training program to develop effective leaders, and a creed that moves us forward while remembering the rich history of the corps that came before us.
You have to be enlisted in the U.S. Navy and you need to have permission from your commanders. You have to be a least 17-28 years old. Waivers for men from age 29-30 are available for highly qualified candidates. You need to have a birth certificate, social security, high school diploma, good eyesight and you can't be colorblind and you have to be a U.S. citizen. To get a Navy contract, you need to take the ASVAB test, get a physical and get a background screening at the Military Endurance Processing Station. Once you done that, you need to get a Navy SEAL contract. Once you have signed the contract, you are eligible to take the PST. Once you pass the PST. your recruiter or mentor will request a reclassification for you into the SEAL program. One subculture within the United States is that of the US Army. The Army defends the nation against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It is an exclusive group since not everyone in the country serves in the Army.
There were no single green berets, just a group; nobody made an effort to distinguish one from another. Like the way we make no effort to name each and every cell in our body, they are just smaller pieces that make up one entity. & nbsp; Throughout the entire book, O’Brien makes several references to how normal men can completely change their persona if placed in such an environment.
The Pennsylvania Army National Guard is a branch of the United States Army that is mostly used today for homeland security. Although the National Guard is not active like the Reserves or Active Duty Army, they still have the same requirements and same responsibility. More than 22,000 men and women make up the Pennsylvania National Guard and Air National Guard today. They reach from state quarters at Fort Indian Town Gap in Lebanon County to about 100 comunities in the commonwealth. Like all National Guard members they share the same responsibilities. For their federal mission, they are trained and equipped to join the active forces in the time of war or a national emergency. For their state mission, they respond to the orders of the governor, protecting the lives and property of people during man made and natural disasters. Their role extends further than floods, blizzards, and riots, everyday they work to clean up the enviorment, fighting to get rid of drugs and other illegal things on the streets, and they serve as role models to generations to come. With the National Guard today you can earn extra money for college, learn job skills that you can use out of the service, and feel better about yourself by serving your hometown and country.

Every Marine has gone through boot camp, each sacrificing blood, sweat, and tears. One thing that has never deteriorated in their years of existence is the fact that they have yet to lose a war they have put effort in. Is this exceptional record due to their extensive training? Is it because of their aggressive nature and mindset? What is to follow may shed some light on these questions and perhaps give some type of insight on how the Marine Corps was so prevailing and what conflicts had they had conquered. 1775, November 10th. This date is memorized and celebrated by every United States Marine as something of excellence, a date of honor. This date is non other than the "birthdate" of the Marine Corps. It was on this date that the Continental Congress passed a resolution to create two operational battalions of American Marines. These men would ultimately be headed by Captain Samuel Nicholas, of the United States Naval department. It was in Philadelphia that the first Marines were grouped and trained for their inaugural mission. The three hundred Marines that had been recruited, were placed aboard eight transport ships, all destined for the beaches of New Providence (the Bahamas). Upon their landing on March 3rd, 1776, they fought up the beach, sweeping through a barrage of bullets, and took command of two small stone forts and a number of military storage complexes.
Webster’s dictionary defines the word profession as a type of job that requires special education, training, or skill. Many Soldiers would not consider the Army as a profession but a way of life. Some think the word profession belongs to everyday jobs like a plumber, mechanic, or doctor. Dr. Don M. Snider stated “the Army is a profession because of the expert work it produces, because the people in the Army develop themselves to be professionals, and because the Army certifies them as such” (Snider, D. M. 2008). In October 2010, the Secretary of the Army directed the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) to lead an Army wide assessment of the state of the Army Profession. We have been at war as a Country for over a decade and the Army wanted to know how to shape the future of the Army as a profession and the effects the past decade had on our profession.

Then you must not be convicted for committing a felony in the state of Arizona, then if you have any misdemeanors domestic violence conviction that involved the use or attempted use of violence or threatening to use a deadly weapon, been denied AZPOST or have been suspended of AZPOST, or be dishonorably discharged from the military. If you have used, sold, been in possession of marijuana (in the last three years) or narcotics (in the last seven years) other being used for experimentation no more than once before the age of twenty-one, along with any pattern of prescription drug abuse. The United States has long been known for having a military presence that few would dare to challenge. The catalyst has not been in having billions in defense funds, it has not been in having huge weapons of mass destruction, it is the heart and spirit of the soldier. I am very proud to be a part of this long and proud tradition of upholding the ideals set forth in the U.S. Constitution. It is something that I would recommend to all willing and able college students. It instills a sense of pride and satisfaction that is matched by no other. As a soldier, there are many options as far as what type of soldier you wish to be. It is similar to choosing a career in the civilian world. The first step in this process is choosing your military branch. There are four main branches in the military; the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines.
