I am a double minority, Native American and African American female, I always worked harder and longer just to get the same accolades, promotions, pay increases and respect as my white counterparts. Naturally, I harbor a certain amount of animosity because my perception is that White America does not believe minorities are either smart enough or strong enough to hold a C-level leadership position. Servant leadership is a clear depart from the traditional leadership style which was dominated by subordinates whom the leaders instruct what and how things are completed. In contrast, servant leadership empowers the subordinate to perform tasks independently for the purpose of giving inspiration to collective efforts, so the results are viewed as a summation of individual efforts. Servant leaders take the time and effort to help subordinates to understand their potential and weakness as well. Notably, this kind of leader sees from others perspectives and they exhibit patience and show empathy. Teamwork is the greatest asset to achieve results according to them.
