My learning experience within inter-professional was very productive. I personally learned about working in collaboration with other professionals. My first impression was the first seminar which took place in the auditorium with a group of students from different professionals in health care sector. The actual seminar was a very good preparation for me and everyone who is in health professionals. The seminar gave me a very understanding of my future practice. It prepared me well on what to expect as I was not aware of the purpose of mixing different students from different professionals. My experience an educational assistant has been both challenging and rewarding. For example, Some students were certainly challenging to work with as they gave off a hue of discomfort and disinterest. During one class period, I was tasked with helping a student finish his Algebra assignment that required him to solve for variables on a worksheet. The student did not understand the assignment and was clearly reluctant to complete it, despite already being late to turn it in. I was able to demonstrate patience by spending two whole block periods with the student while working on the assignment until he was able to grasp the concepts being taught. While taking the Health Care Administration course, I intend to receive the preparation a professional needs to manage, lead and improve the shifting health care system. In a casual discussion of two employees who work with the administrative assistant, it was discovered that most of the workers recognize that there is a problem with the worker in question. The co-workers began to share notes and soon realized that each department was experiencing the same difficulties with the administrative assistant. This appeared to be the triggering event that exposed the problem to the group.

During my time at UMass Amherst I was given an opportunity to be a teaching assistant (TA) for an integrated experience kinesiology course. I had taken the class the prior semester and the professor noticed my hard work, dedication, and leadership role with in my group and asked me to come work with her. This course is a group project that requires students to work together to build a wellness program for a target population with a chronic disease. At the end of the semester each group presents their project to professors in the kinesiology field and other professionals. The most important aspects of this course is working with in a group and making sure every decision and detail of the project is backed up with appropriate and legitimate research.
Through my experience working as a Resident Adviser (RA), I have noticed inequities and injustices that exist in the educational system. My first year as a RA, one of my residents identified as a transgender female. She was extremely open about her transition, would answer any questions and expressed interest in wanting to have a roommate and suitemates, but was mandated a single room. It wasn’t until my second year as a RA that I realized how unjust that student was being treated. Through conversation with a coworker who is a member of the LGBTQ community, he explained to me that higher education isn’t as accommodating to members of the LGBTQ community as they could be. I worked with two different departments, Volunteer Services and Donor Relations. As an intern with Volunteer Services, I have acquired experience administering and reviewing background checks for adults 18 and over. I also managed the volunteer inbox and database. My job role was to respond to over 200 applicants any given day and forwarded all volunteer applications to the appropriate parties and branches. In addition, I responded via email to any questions or concerns that applicants or parents had in regards to volunteering. With the organization Donor Relations, I managed donations from donor. I entered information into the company’s database and created bookplate templates as specified by donors. One situation that was a positive experience was in my Senior ELA class and we were studying Thoreau’s Walden. I always became engaged and motivated when small group discussions occurred. Additionally, I was surprisingly intrigued more than other students by philosophers like Thoreau and Emerson. We were discussing the metaphorical imagery related to nature Thoreau used to discuss the human experience. Not only did I seem to be one of the few to participate frequently in the discussion but also my responses were deep and concise. I received praise from my teacher and peers, it was one of those few times I felt really proud of myself.
During supervision, my supervisor immediately pointed out that the issues that I was having with this client was not anything personal. She explained how detrimental it can be to compare relationships and the different dynamics that influence a relationship. Southern (2007) illuminated how impactful it can be to work through countertransference and intersubjectivity during supervision and how imperative it is that the supervisor provide meaningful support and education for their supervisee. My faith has drastically changed as I entered high school, and I believe the unique emphasis DSHA has on faith development has allowed for my faith to grow; I do not think that my faith would have changed as it did if I attended another school. Coming into high school, my faith life was almost nonexistent. But the different retreats, mass services, faith friday’s, and other activities have shown me that faith is a meaningful thing to experience. The most significant retreat I have experienced was senior retreat. In terms of moral, Mr. Jeu mentioned that they do survey the employees several times a year to see how the employees feel about their tasks and the workplace. He said if the scores went down, he would meet with some of his staff to see how they could improve the overall moral. Then, Mr. Jeu told me that the agency has an Employee Assistant Program (EAP) which essentially, is professional counseling help for employees that are struggling with work-family balance or financially. Mr. Jeu constantly reminds his workers that they do offer the EAP and that they can go whenever they need to.
On Tuesday, September first I met with my academic advisor, Dr. Ana Londono for the first time. We met in her office on the first floor of Young Hall. She informed me that it was only her third week as an advisor at Lindenwold University. I was a bit nervous after hearing that because my major is Pre-Nursing and I had a lot of questions to ask. One of my main reason of making an appointment with my advisor was to ask when I would be able to apply for nursing school. I took a lot of college credit classes in high school. So Dr. Londono and I went over my high school transcript and figured out what classes I had already taken. Lindenwood has a great connection with Goldfarb School of Nursing. On the Lindenwold website they provide a list of required
