The world should be picture as a place where people can live in a loving world where people care for each other and there is no violence. Also, people should have the opportunity to enjoy and explore what Mother Nature has to offer such as forests, landscapes, clean parks and tree, which provide us to breathe in clean, fresh air. In addition, the world should be a clean place where no trash such as paper, cans, plastic bottles, and glass should be piled up on street corners, train tracks, and forests or floating in lakes, rivers and oceans. Also, people should be able to drive good efficient cars. However, this is the perfect world we all imagine to have, but in reality today world in not like that. In today world, people selfishness as destroying the world we live in because people do not care for each other, rather they worry more on gaining power, authority, and money. For instances, to confirm that people selfishness separate them from each other, I conducted several interviews asking ten interviewees, what separated people and they all believe, its all about people selfishness, ambition, and competition because nowadays people just want to see themselves succeed economically not others. In addition, I also saw a documentary called I am where the director Tom Shadyac explains that humanity is driving the world as a machine that build competition and ambition and explains that everything in life is all about money, competition and ambition, when in reality life is base on love and happiness. But, people nowadays do not see life as places of love and happiness rather now they see life as a place to gain power, competition and money. However, people selfishness is not all about gaining power and money; it is all about how hu... ... middle of paper ... ...ore about the environment these thing won’t occur. If humankind stops littering, cutting trees and using normal car the environment will not experiences those climate change that would affect the environment. However, instead of people littering it the streets, it is perfectible to recycle reusable items such as paper, plastic and plastic bottles, cardboard, tins cans, aluminum, light bolt, and any metal item instead of throwing them in the streets. Also, the good advantages of recycling is new product can be made with the reusable items. In addition, instead of deforestation the better solution will probably be destroying abandon houses and building to use the space to build new industrial building and lastly people purchasing Hybrid cars. Therefore, humankind can be too selfish of not caring for the environment, but at the end of the day humankind have compassion.
Pollan even agrees that becoming friendlier to the environment may seem like a bit too much. Scientists may even show that it could even be too late to save the planet from the climate change. One NASA climate scientist, James Hansen, began warning about global warming 20 years ago. According to Hansen, the amount of carbon we are emitting is going to change the world as we know it. Scientists have seen the climate change affect the world on a grander scale as of today and we are seeing ice caps melt at both poles. The sunlight that used to reflect off of the ice back into space is now being absorbed into the soil and creating a warmer environment. This is causing global warming to occur faster than most scientists predicted. There are ways to possibly slow down the carbon footprint each person is leaving on the world. By growing a garden and even making some of your own food can lessen the carbon footprint each person
Money, money, money, money, money. People just care about the Benjamins, the moolah, the cash, the dough— but is it really essential to the human existence, or does society just accept the systematic oppression that comes with the dog-eat-dog nature of our economic system since it benefits the people on top? Monetary gains are all well and good; however, when does it commence to overtake our lives and when does it become our end goal? Instead of relying on money for food, shelter and our overall well-being, society views it as a tool that gives them power over other people, thus putting one’s economic status on a pedestal and making life a difficult competition. So yes, it is a dog-eat-dog world, but that’s not exactly a healthy perspective
One day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich is not a book about a superhuman. It is not a story about someone who is weaker and more desperate than everyone else. It is not a tale of greatness, nor is it about extraordinary faults. Instead, Aleksander Solzhenitsyn chose to center his story around Ivan denisovich Shukhov, an average, unnoticeable Russian prisoner.
...teredness stems from the constant striving for the American Dream of success and especially applies to today, when we see war, embezzlement, and natural disasters all over the news. But the philanthropic acts that lift us up and allow society to survive reverse the selfishness that often presents itself during difficult situations. So while selfishness may be the “greatest curse of the human race,” selflessness is the greatest cure (William E. Gladstone quotes, 2010).
Our actions leave impressions on other people’s lives every day. If we could all work together we could knock out many problems that plague impoverished countries every day; like famine and war. When we do not interact in a positive loving way chaos, fighting, and war breaks out. If the human race as a whole does not learn how to cooperate and take only as much as we need, our lives as we know them could fall apart. We see it constantly repeated in early civilization what happens when a society takes too much; they all crumble as a result of greed and
To sum up, looking upon the term self-interest, people not only need to separate its concept with selfishness, but also have to
Selfishness is a disease of the soul that every person experiences several times throughout their life. To say that it has never been experienced would be hypocrisy. To say that it is a “good thing”, would be erroneous. Although as humans we like to lie to ourselves, it is no question that selfishness can make any person act like a fool. It consumes us and makes us into someone we are not. Whether it leads to getting people killed, falling in love, or buying alcohol, selfishness always leads to destruction.
In addition to lowering greenhouse gas levels and using cleaner energy sources, there are things we can do as people to stop climate change. We could reduce our use of electricity at our homes by turning off the lights when we leave the room, turning down/up the heating/ac when it is unnecessary, and using less water. Also, we could install solar panels in our homes and donate money to environmental protection agencies. Hopefully, the people of our world will soon realize climate change is a pressing issue that must be solved as soon as
...such as recycling and reducing waste has significantly helped our environment and will continue to if future generations practice these same habits. For deforestation, many organizations have strived to plant more trees and add more oxygen to the atmosphere as well as nutrients for the soil. Seeing that although humans create many negative impacts in our global environment, there are many positive arrangements in correcting these issues.
According to the internet human behavior has a very big affect on the environment. Environmental settings such as air pollution, oceans, energy, or noise are all sources that can negatively impact the environmental quality and conditions. Our daily routines have a huge impact on the environment and we do not realize it. New laws that are passing and educating people will help a lot. People are being educated on how to use less water, use our cars less, how to use less energy, and even taking reusable bags when going grocery shopping because plastic bags are very bad for the environment. There are simple solutions that can help in getting started with these efforts. Every little step and effort we make in our daily routines count.
Selfishness is a term fairly notorious for its meaning. A lot of people accept that being selfish is wrong, but no one knows how this came about and why it matters. Who has the right to decide whether someone gets to be selfish or not? In his article “The unselfishness Trap”, Harry Browne says that the best way for people to be happy is when if everyone sacrifices but me. Thomas Nagel, on the other hand, argues in his article “The Objective Basis of Morality” that being concerned about others is more important. Being selfish, for many people, is evil. By definition, selfishness is to be more concerned about yourself than others, but that would essentially make every living human being a “selfish” being.
You might just as well try to imagine a country where two and two made five. Men have differed as regards what people you ought to be unselfish to—whether it was only your own family, or your fellow countrymen, or everyone. But they have always agreed that you ought not to put yourself first. Selfishness has never been admired.” (Lewis) Now, whether or not people choose to follow
First off, the human race are being too greedy and selfish. Society are using too
People can also reduce the use of fossil fuels by doing simple things for instance switching off lights and appliances when leaving the room. Walking or cycling instead of driving a car or use public transport for maybe longer journeys. Little things like this will make a big difference, making our planet a better place.
One of the most evident problems associated to the environment is the issue of the logging of trees, mainly in undisturbed places such as the Amazon basin. Trees are considered the lungs of the Earth. They recycle all the polluting carbon in the air and return oxygen back into our atmosphere, creating a stable cycle of carbon in our atmosphere. However, the impeccable rates which trees are being cut down in our forests have grown to ever increasing and alarming rates. Trees that are made way for farming are burnt up releasing deadly amounts of carbon and thus leading to the problem of global warming. As its names suggest the world is slowly warming up and without any notice the environment which God has gave us will be slowly eradicated. The daily lives which humans carry on about every day are also a factor influencing on our environment and global warming. By driving cars that have a thirst for petrol we are releasing carbon dioxide and furthermore impacting on the world?s climate. In Australia environmental impact has always been evident. Land clearing especially in places such as Queensland has caused land to lay dry and lifeless where all forms of life is destroyed. By clearing land we are not only affecting our climate but are also destroying animal habitat and the usage of the land. Senseless actions by commuters in Australia, emitting tons and tons of lethal gases vulnerable to the atmosphere are starting to take its toll on our climate. We are seeing a harsher climate and at the same time less rain. If we want to preserve our world we must take a stance on this issue and take action for what is right, not carrying on the actions that will lead to a desolate, destroyed Earth.
