Through life people have tried to find why some people are successful and others are not. While some people attribute it to faith others believe it has to do with persistence and hard work. Learning about yourself will find your success. I am a kinesthetic and visual learner. I can learn things efficiently if I can do it hands on or if a visual is provided. For memorizing facts, I have to rehearse modest portions at a time this makes it easy for me to memorize information. At my age I have gone through many phases in life; I know myself well, I know my strengths lies in my patience and persistence which has helped me enjoy history and working with children. I truly believe God gave us different talents, that can be used to help others grow. …show more content…
I am fascinated by events that change our world. Events that inspired us to improve humanity, or find humanity flaws. In addition, history is something we can learn from. In order to learn history on must be persistent to learn so many details and historical dates.I envision myself as a teacher or a counselor. My heat fills with joy when I observe children accomplish a task that seemed impossible weeks or days earlier to accomplish. I love their curious nature. I genuinely like to help other. I would like to provided children with a secure caring environment for them to learn. I can see myself going in to the same classroom every day and working with different helping children every year. According to Angela Duckworth" I don't think people can became truly gritty and great at thing they don't love, so when we try to develop grit in kids we also need to help the cultivate their own passion." I believe teaching is about helping individuals find their talents. I enjoy helping people I believe this is why I am so drawn to teaching. At times the person who teaches learns just as much as the person being taught. Having my own children helps me learn to deal with problems with other children. It gives me hand on experience of what to expect. As a teacher you need patience to deal with children. Children at times became frustrated because they are unable to accomplished a task. Furthermore, children can have a learning delays or other
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.
Writing has always been a difficult subject for me to tackle throughout my education. I enjoy writing academic essays and rhetorically analyzing in research papers but not personal narratives of any sort. In this class, there was a combination of both, which helped me to continue to grow as a writer. During this semester, I have learned several valuable things in this class and gained a lot of knowledge to use in future academic classes. From different styles of writing, how to analyze images, MLA format, rhetorical analysis, and structuring my writing to an online audience. Even though this class initially seemed to be a difficult task, going through the entire semester beginning to end has helped make writing a more achievable challenge.
Because we all have these certain areas we excel at more than others, I learned not to get down on myself so much because as soon as I started doing that it was
For the past seven years, I have been working across the country as a sailing coach. Whenever I’m coaching, I am always learning different things about both the people and me I am coaching. There are various aspects of coaching all of which stem from a series of traits. To coach sailing one needs to be spontaneous, aggressive, supportive, inspiring, organized but most importantly a leader. From when I first started to my most recent position, I have been in both a line position and manager position. (McCarthy). Organized chaos was the trick to the game in this situation. My job required an extensive amount of planning and research just to prepare for one day. We had daily briefings with our weather team and planned amongst our classes. The way the programs are set up is there is a total of fourteen instructors. Amongst those instructors approximately
After completing the eight self-assessments I have now learned a lot about myself and the different skills and abilities I possess, which I never noticed before, and the qualities I can contribute to my organization. In order to maximize your true potential, individuals need to understand these skill sets and on how to use them. This leads to individual success in the organization, and further contributes to organization success as well. The purpose of this paper is to examine two self-assessments, relate it to my work organization, school, and personal life, and present short research on each topic. First, this paper will discuss my first professional job with the South Asian Community Resource Office (Sacro) with Abbotsford Community Services, as their youth worker. Next this paper will look at assessing my locus of control and lastly, I will talk about the listening self-inventory.
This semester, I worked for an attorney office and saw exactly how the House Bill 274 affected the law firm. I worked for a personal injury law firm which was called the Law Office of Branch & Dhillon. I worked for Attorney Dhillon, Attorney Woron and Attorney Barber. My to go person, a really helpful supervisor and paralegal, was a lovely lady named Judy. Judy let me explore all aspects to working at the law firm and even let me have my own office, key to the firm, and my own special “attorney” coffee jug- all which made me feel like I belonged there.
Through answering the assigned thought-provoking questions, I was able to not only learn more about my personality, but I also learned how my specific traits cab be a benefit to my personal as well as my professional growth. The questions required me to take a deeper look into my personality, triggers and motivators which provided me a better understanding of how I operate. In order to continue improving in my professional and personal life, I must continue to grow and hone my communication skills, leadership skills, understand what stressors affect me and much more. The insight that is reviewed in this project report offers an insight that I do have flaws and weaknesses and certain aspects of my personality must be addressed and maintained.
My initial reaction to the icon presentation had me feeling sceptical and slightly anxious. Sharing something that held such significant sentimental value to me and my family was not something I had had the chance to do in any other class over the course of my university career. This pedagogical approach in which the teacher is situated at the front of class, educating other students with no written language, is very powerful. I find that listening to someone share something with you, without notes, and speaking purely from their heart, is one of the most powerful ways to receive, understand and process information, but more importantly, learn.
“Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from indomitable will.” When I first started college I always knew I wanted to serve a purpose in the medical field; I didn’t have all the guidance or resources to know exactly how to accomplish that goal. Everything became a trial and error for me, I researched different occupations by doing so I was able to discover pharmacy. I was really drawn to the impact you can make in a person’s life by being their pharmacist. I never knew how much of a difference pharmacist made in health care. Soon after, my uncle became a pharmacist and that really motivated me more to go for it. I always had the will to be successful, however, circumstances that physically played a part in my life prevented me from being able to give my
The fact that many people don’t necessarily know the dangers of our environment through pollution is thrilling. Watching the films A civil Action, Tapped and Erin Brockovich raises attention to how our environment is being effected on many circumstances, with addition to companies not caring because how big the number is when they receive their income. On EPA.gov there are many issues regarding the plots in each of the three films. Including A Civil Action and the dumping of hazardous materials into water, Tapped and the impact water bottles have toward pollution and Erin Brockovich, where the pollution causing innocent people to become ill. Another idea to bring into perspective is the trail us humans leave behind as we move on. This can be seen in the film The Human Footprint and on World Wild Life’s website.
Interning at the Home of the Innocents has allowed me to learn the full circle. From forming goals, implementing activities, and looking at the progress made by each child. My schedule has not allowed me to participate in care plans, volunteer and new employee orientation. Along with completing a new admission assessment but they are things I would like to do. Before interning I didn’t realize what kinds of communication I would encounter, I have learned a lot communication practices interning at the “Home”. I have been able to develop specific skills such as communication and creativity that helps me throughout my internship and that could help me in other future job opportunities. I have also been able to implement a lot from my Outdoor Leadership
I grew up going to church. To me, back then, that’s just what you did. I never felt comfortable in a church, nor did I understand anything in or about the Christian faith. I went to different churches and bible study groups. I’d go with my friends to their churches and I would sit there awkwardly. I never told anyone that it didn’t make sense to me because I thought I was stupid or I was betraying my religion. As I got older I discovered other religions and what they believed in. I learned that it was okay not to be Christian. When I was ten, I moved to Columbia City, a very white, conservative Christian town. I already felt out of place because of skin color; I didn’t want to add my religious views to that. I forced those doubting thoughts
handouts did actually help with my writing process. This class has also given me the chance of
My parents arrived in the United States hoping for a better future not for themselves, but for the baby they carried in their arms. We would often move from relatives ' houses since my parents couldn’t afford renting an apartment themselves. We were fortunate enough to have caring relatives who didn 't mind us living with them since they knew the hardships we were going through. I grew up in a household where only Spanish was spoken given that both my parents didn’t speak any English at all. When I was in kindergarten, my teacher was afraid that I would be behind the rest of my classmates, given that I only spoke Spanish fluently. I was fortunate to receive free tutoring from my kindergarten teacher. We would often read books together until
The college I have graduated from has changed my way of thinking and imagining the world in ways I didn’t see coming. It would take an apologetics conference in Atlanta, Georgia to realize fully what my college experience had planted in my heart, and it was ugly.
