With every class and semester, I learn more about myself, my impact on others, improvement areas, and how to improve them. Entering OB, I knew I liked being the first person at each meeting and arrived several minutes early; this semester was no different and I plan on doing the same in the future. However, I know that everyone on my team is not the same. Although at times it was challenging to have high patience and stay calm, I knew I had to trust my team members. Even if they were late, I knew they would be participative and complete their tasks at their highest capability. I kept trying to get those that barely spoke at meetings or through the chat by saying: Lucas? Jamie? What do you guys think? To be a successful team, I learned that trust is the most important piece; a lack of trust would have led to different results.
Prior to this class I did not think I had strong communication skills. I learned that even though I come off as shy during the first and second meeting, I would feel more relaxed throughout the semester. This helped me produce superb work quality. Meaning that I “encourage [team members] to reach peak performance.” I always seek the best in others no matter how big or small the task is. When I start a team, project, or task, I tend to focus on the long-term goal and what I need to do now in order to get there. In order to reach everyone’s highest potential, I volunteered myself to book team rooms so that we could all meet in the same room and discuss our ideas and choose the strongest one. Even though we accomplished our main goal of being one of the top projects and teams in our class, I believe we should have done a team activity outside of class, such as dinner, to know each other better outside class
