1. Type of Governance
In my opinion, private self-governance is the most appropriate type of governance to describe the photo of Floating House. Private self-governance means that no intervention from the state. The policy formulation and implementation are completely in the hand of private sector, in this case is the family who lives in the Floating House. From the photo, it can be seen that they are free from the state intervention to live in the Floating House. It looks like they are free to build such a house which is look fragile and endanger the occupant, especially children since it has no safety fence that will keep the children fall into the water. There are also no restrictions from the state in placing the house close to the cliff, the position where it might be vulnerable to falling materials may fall from the cliff or

As the state provide public goods and services, in the example above, the state provide security patrol. The interest of the state to the Floating House is to provide security. The photo might tell that the children is not accompanied by their parent which is might be work, so the state must ensure the security of the neighbourhood. The Floating House also important to the state as its existence determines where they should patrol. It is also important for the state as they use it as a tool for planning the budget in delivering the services. The Floating House has a great influence to the state especially in how the state delivering security patrol and how to improve the services. Performance of the state in delivering security patrol can be seen from the level of public satisfaction and it can be done through a survey. The result of the survey will influence the service deliver by the state. For example, if currently they do patrol once a day and after conducting a survey, evidently the people want the state to do twice a day patrol, then it will become the state concern to fulfil the people
Through the physical structure appearance of the neighborhood, there is a brick wall surrounding the neighborhood with only the front entrance to enter and leave the neighborhood. This seclude the area from the general public making it almost hidden except the front entrance. Mobile homes set tightly side by side one another in rows across the neighborhood. Homeowners are able to surveillance the front area of their homes to see any interaction happening. Another factor that does indicate the neighborhood to be safe is the public interaction around an area of the neighborhood which includes, a small playground with a basketball court, outdoor pool, a banquet room, and the manager’s office. The playground is an area where children play and interact with another. There are times when children are playing without any adult supervision, this suggests that parents believe it is safe enough to leave children alone at the playground. Also, it is near the manager’s office which monitors the neighborhood. Fortunately, my home is right in front of this area, so I am able to see any interaction going on by just looking through my window. As far as social control, the manager does regularly check the neighborhood to ensure that everything is going by smoothly. If there is any problem what so ever, then the manager sends out papers to inform the homeowners about any issue or new information. The neighborhood is relatively quiet with the

“God’s own country, “Kerala, is a coastal state. It is dotted with small fishing villages. In the 1970s, high waves would wash away many villages with routine hits. So, every year the affected fishermen and women would receive a government compensation for clothing, blankets, nets and even replacement huts. In 1974, an architect living and working in Thiruvananthapuram approached the Chief Minister and suggested an alternate solution. He proposed that instead of giving away State resources as compensation each year,
What is the relationship between ownership and self identity/development? This is a extremely complicated question. There are many theories trying to answer this question, such as, Plato 's claim the "owning objects is detrimental to a person 's character", whereas Aristotle argues that "ownership of tangible goods helps to develop moral character." To answer this question we must first ask, what is ownership? If this question is asked to friends, relatives, even strangers, we will receive many similar answers to this question. People will say something along the lines of, "the possession of an object" or "to be in control of something". However, we must then dive deeper into the question and ask ourselves, can we really possess an object if it can be taken
The idea of Individualism can be traced all the way back to England before America’s existence. As we know, individualism has been interpreted in many forms throughout history. The 19th century is no different, taking hold of its own idea of individualism, called transcendentalism. Transcendentalism suggests freedom should not be confined to those focused on money and superficial gains. Instead, people should depend on no one but themselves. This movement focused on “greater individualism against conformity” (Corbett et al.). Heavily influenced by the Romantic period, transcendentalism adopted the belief that reason was more important than logic as Benjamin Franklin has believed. Reason must also include unique emotion and spirit (Corbett et
A leadership theory is a clarification of some features of leadership; theories have practical importance as they are being used for better understanding, anticipating, and controlling successful leadership. Hence, the main principle of any theory is to inform practice(Lussier and Achua 2009). Leadership theories could be classified into eight main categories: Great man, trait, behavioral, contingency, Situational, Participative, Relationship , management (Cherry 2010).
The physical condition of reservations themselves is low in quality and standards. Housing is cramped and overcrowded, with up to three generations of family living together in one small house. Less than half of these houses have access to basic utilities. In addition, reservations
As discussed above, scholars’ attitudes towards self-determination correlate with their understanding about the link between self-determination and democracy. Intrinsically linked with the idea of democracy, self-determination was to correct the arbitrariness and injustices of dynastic rule. In theory, self-determination could be said to refer to the practice by which individuals freely express their political will by choosing their own government and, at this stage, a reference to nationalism appears by no means necessary. The problem arises when the principle of self-determination is put into practice (xxx, xxx).
When valuing the property, the figures should not be the only issue but also the demographic factors and the services offered. When valuing the property, everything within the property should be assessed. The items inside a house should be valued by the size, the cost and the age of existence, this includes the furniture’s and any other utensils that may be available. For items like the computer, the cost and the make are of importance. The car should also be valued if it forms part of the property and the model and the year of make are of essence. The surrounding of the property should also be put into consideration; the geographical location of the property should be put into consideration (Tucker Sundeep, 2006).
“The extent to which people believe they have power over events in their lives. A person with an internal locus of control believes that he or she can influence events and their outcomes, while someone with an external locus of control blames outside forces for everything,” (Fournier, n.d.). There are two types of people in this world whose results can be effectively measured using Locus of control. Locus of control can be used as measuring tool in people who feel; that they are accountable for their own behaviours. Individuals who score a high internal result on a locus of control test tend to believe that they are in control of their own destiny and everything that happens to them is their own doing. But, individuals with
Self-determination theory is one that assumes all humans are born with an innate drive to better oneself, basically becoming self-actualized, which is referred to as full-functioning. In self-determination theory, or SDT, full-functioning is characterized as “being aware and mindful, acting autonomously…, and pursuing and attaining intrinsic life goals” (Deci, Ryan, and, Guay 2013). SDT describes three autonomous behaviors: intrinsically motivated, extrinsically motivated, and emotionally motivated. SDT also describes three psychological basic needs of every human: the needs for competency, autonomy, and relatedness. The need for competency causes people to try tasks slightly tougher than they can currently manage, in order to improve upon
Achieving personal autonomy to me means to have an interest for own personal achievements in life. It is the freedom to live your own life as you please. As young children we learn to follow people who we trust make decisions for us, but as we become adolescence we start wanting to make decisions for ourselves. That is where personal autonomy comes into play, as we mature taking control of our own life in a way that we want to live can create an inner happiness; no one wants anyone to control their life. We may have people who love and care for us that may give advice about what choices we should make in life simply because they want the best for us, but at the end of the day we make our own decisions which reflect the way we live (Koestner, R. 2008).
Life struggles and injustices in my community have shaped me into a passionate, determine, and empathetic community leader. My aspiration in building stronger and safer communities derived from the obstacles I experienced as a first generation Chicana, growing up in a low income community. I was born and raised in East Los Angeles where at age 11, I witnessed how education inequity played a critical role in the life opportunity and academic success of the youth in my community. During my first two years in Stevenson Middle School, I began losing friends and classmates due to drugs and alcohol, gang violence, and delinquency. Throughout those two years, I lived with fear and anxiety not knowing whether tomorrow I would be alive. I had no mentors
