The group discussion has just passed, and it was really a hard work and challenging. There were many precious lessons I got, and, hopefully, so did with my friends. Our group was consisting of four students. As a quantity, reasonably, we had had enough power to do a better work and gained a satisfying result. As I flashed back to the group discussion, it was enriching my memories. Some were in high spirit, remarkable and enjoyable. Opposite to it, few were disappointing.
I still remembered that when we directed for the first meeting everyone was very enthusiastic and really keened to do it sooner. It was a successful meeting. Unfortunately, I had to let my friend knew that I would be late for fifteen minutes. It was reasonable because on the same day and almost on the same time I had to report my arrival to Indonesian consulate, which was holding a meeting at Flinders University. Back to our group meeting, I was really happy that everyone was very punctual. Moreover, we held a very fascinating discussion about our topic and everyone was contributing his or her idea to t...
One of the many significant concepts of group dynamics that I found to be the most interesting is the idea of how any and all aspects of the group process has the natural ability to bring up all the past relatable experiences of each individual group member. I found this to be very true on so many levels within each session, process and the overall development of the group. It has personally been meaningful to view the life of a group as a story with a beginning, middle and end—simply a process of constantly moving succession of moments. Seeing it in this manner then makes perfect sense that every story will remind us of all past stories and that every parts of the story will remind us of all the parts of past stories. With all of this in mind, I could not think of a better and more appropriate topic for my final paper than on the last session and ending of a group. Even as I write the introduction of this paper, I could not be more aware of my anticipation of reaching the concluding paragraph and final sentence as I tell myself, “Well begun is half done!”
...rking together. Although conflicts slowed our work we managed to resolve them and move forward to our goal. I would really like to work together again but there are some aspects I would like to be changed which will improve to make our group even more successful. First, making plan of actions and creating deadlines, so everyone will be a little bit more responsible. Second, change cultural issue to being late to every meeting, as waiting to others can be disturbing and irritating. The last thing is suggestion to be more open and not being shy to display thoughts and opinions openly, which might make solutions proposed more creative. Every group member had her/his own place, duty and ready to display help if something was wrong or misunderstood. Supportive climate lead to initiation of friendship among members and that is in my opinion how group should look and act.
Our group proved to be productive and a bonding experience. We created together, we stressed together, we laughed together, and the group gave itself group “air hugs” when we felt we had done a good job. For the rest of my BASW education I will feel closer to these individuals than I do with the rest of the cohort. Our time together provided us the opportunity to reach greater understandings and appreciations of one another.
In week 7 our seminar leader allocated us into smaller groups of six to work together, get together and to start preparing for the mock debate in week 9 and the debate in week 10. When we started to get alone with each other, it was seen that it is not going to be easy to achieve our goals, not just because in our group had a strong activist, reflector, theorist and pragmatist, but we also needed to face some solvable difficulties as our first meeting of the week was cancelled by problem like the lack of communication, miscommunication and the ability to listen to another.
From the very beginning, it was apparent that there was going to be a great deal of communication and learning done in this project. I could not be any more thankful for the group I was in. I believe our personalities and attitudes all meshed quite well to get this to the finish line.
Over a 6-week period I as well as 3 others formed a group (all of whom I’ve never talked to prior to the practice round). We participated in completing 5 rounds (also 1 practice round) of a business simulation game, where we were expected to work as an effective group and come up with strategies to achieve the aims we set. Within this statement I aim to reflect on the past 6 periods and see what happened, evaluate why and hopefully attempt to avoid the negatives in the future. I have also kept a weekly log where I kept notes of what happened during the seminar (Appendix 1).
I was not familiar with the members of my group at first. However, as we got to learn more about each other, working in a group naturally became more enjoyable. I wasn’t fond of the amount of writing that we had to do for our website, but knowing that my group was there to lend a hand to anyone of us who needed help really encouraged me to work hard. Being able to communicate easily with my group was also important when it came to working as a team. I felt that my group and I were able to work together pleasantly to complete this project. I’m looking forward to meeting and working with new people in future group
This turned out to be the positive group experience for me and other group members. The team was sufficiently strong from the very beginning through the development phase to the end without any incident of conflict and disagreement. Every group member is reliable and understands their roles working in a group. They also understand the significance of progressing collectively towards the shared and common goal. In other words, our group reflected the synergy by the association we held with each other as a team and, thus, reflecting an example of being a successful
Over this past couple of months our group has progressed to a much higher level in outputs as a group and getting to this point wasn 't easy. Our group started off with some “primary tension”, which was a stage that many group members were unfamiliar with roles and had some trust issue in terms of everyone doing their work on time and then we started improving in “group synergy” and outputs for our class.
Based on the small group that I joined in communication class, I will talk about what is working well and what is getting in the way in our group. Then I will discuss about what I can do to improve the group and the things about group project if there is a chance for a start over again. At last, I am also going to talk about what I think that I learned is an important lesson in this semester.
In the third week, group reached Norming stage (Tuckman, 1965) and by considering everyone’s availability from classes and job commitments, every Wednesday’s were decided to meet for the team meetings. Besides, a group was created on ‘whatsapp’ (a smartphone application) known as ‘Healthcare assignment group’ for quick interactions and to update members about any changes to group meetings. It definitely proved an important application for completion of our team’s project. Then due to arguments regarding meetings and content of the presentation, the need for a group leader was felt who will make a final decision. Consequently, team member M nomi...
In reflection on my learning experience in the group class, I have gained clarity on what sorts of competencies of facilitating group therapy, as well as in what areas social workers and students tend to feel most strong in my practice. Regarding my specific gains in competencies, I feel that I learned the most and was most likely to gain specific group facilitating competencies at the weekly class. Learning in group class is taught me the tools to use to work with groups therapy, communities and also with individuals through the process of changes. In this past three months I think a lot of opportunities have been created to shadowing with (beside and behind) and being a part of group members to learn. In addition, this class has taught me about the skills and how effectively help
Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
Questions about participation, influence, and decision-making were included, as well as descriptions of each. Also, there were questions and descriptions of feeling and emotional responses, which is useful to someone like me who doesn’t always understand the emotional side of group dynamics. There are many ways I can apply the knowledge learned to my career and personal life.
The students were required to collaborate with each other and respond and resolve all the problems that were encounter and give alternative endings to the situations. For me, this task was extremely problematic as the group members were all addressing different resolutions to the problems; however, each resolution had various flaws, which consequently required me to address the flaws of each resolution and present new resolutions. However, my resolutions had flaws and this process went on a cycle until an effective resolution was composed. Thus, allowing me to develop my communication
