I was surprised with sea world decision, but in the same time glad that they choose to free the whales. I am a huge animal lover but when it comes to animal cruelty I rather to be ignorant about it .I really hope that SeaWorld didn’t make up their mind only because their stocks fell and I hope it will be at least a small example for the world, I am happy that a lot of counties are taking action to protect animals from being only used as an entertainment tool. Little change is happening. I never been to a circuses except if TV counts but yes I have been to a zoo’s and a lot of aquariums and I find it dramatic to predicted the end of zoo, aquariums maybe circus because in my opinion circuses have the same problem of abusing animals and making
I am sure almost all of you have either been to or heard of SeaWorld. Today I am going to tell you about what they do to their orcas that they are trying to hide. I chose this topic after watching a documentary called “Blackfish” that goes into the behind the scenes of how SeaWorld treats its animals. I have since done further research online to prepare for this presentation. This is an important topic because you should know what kind of company you are funding and behaviors you are endorsing when you go on your vacations to this destination. Today I am going to persuade you that SeaWorld is corrupt and maltreats its animals, specifically the orcas. First, I will talk about the specific way the orcas are treated and how it affects them
The trainers, along with Cowperthwaite, believe having them in a captivity like SeaWorld is inhumane. I agree with this documentary, Blackfish. This documentary gave a perfect visual representation of why I do not like having animals in a cage or in a small area. Having animals captive, working hard, and hardly fed is wrong, especially when only allowing them in a small area to roam. Watching this documentary made me feel sympathy towards these poor animals that must go through this harsh life style.
I believe that killer whales held hostage, should be retired and allowed to live freely because of the unnatural punishment and torture that Seaworld is putting them through. There has been 151 cases of aggression between Orcas and their trainers. Also 100% of male Orcas in captivity have a collapsed fin compared to the 0.01% in the wild. In fact, every single mother within captivity has had its calf taken away around age 2. This isn't going to stop without your help. So, here are some more facts to convince you to SAS ( strike against Seaworld. )
The Sea Shepherds are group of volunteers who try to protect the sea animals, and capture criminals who kill the animals without permits. Their website has many purposes, one dedicate to collect donations from the reader. Furthermore, they want to protect the ocean wildlife. The website audience includes people who want to protect the ocean, and they want to save the sea animals which will likely be extinct. They offer the audience a chance to donate, volunteer, and stay up to date with ongoing issues involving marine life. This website is outstanding because the sea shepherds host a successful website that effectively reaches out to the audience through appealing to the reader's emotions, logic, and credibility.
"Hey mom!" "Yes, my dear?" "It's starting to look like that Orca wants to drown its trainer." "Oh no sweetie. It's just your imagination." But what if it's not?
Although SeaWorld presents itself as a family establishment full of fun “educational” activities. However, these activities harm animals physically and emotionally.
In February of 2010, a woman named Dawn Brancheau died while working as an animal trainer at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. There has been a large amount of debate about the circumstances surrounding her death—some say she slipped and fell, while others say that she was dragged in by one of the orcas, Tilikum. The controversy over her tragic death brought this question to the surface: should parks like SeaWorld be closed down for safety reasons? While this argument has been going on for a long time, the death of Brancheau spurred a wave of debates about whether the park should be allowed to remain open. On one side, people believe the parks should be shut down and the animals should be released from captivity in an effort to protect the animals and the humans. On the other side of the argument, people believe the parks should be kept open because of the benefits they offer to the world in education and conservation. In light of SeaWorld’s recent transitions, I believe the park should remain open to the public.
If you are in around Los Angeles I would recommend SeaWorld in San Diego. SeaWorld San Diego is coined in March 21, 1964 for a 52 years ago. You can go and visit for all season because it's located in California there is never going to be freezing. I would like to say if you are looking have fun with your family or friends, visit to San Diego is a very good idea, there is so many interesting things. I have visited only SeaWorld, USS Midway Museum and also some beach, but I will visit San Diego Zoo. My personal advice is if you are in SeaWorld just buy water protector jacket its not too expensive or you can bring some clothes, I thought I don’t need this, that’s why I am here its SeaWorld something like that. That was very bad idea because the
Seaworld is a giant marine life theme park. The greatest attraction to these many theme park would be those killer whales. In fact, these killer whales are the face of the park. As gigant as these mammals are, seaworld is keeping them in some pretty tight quarters. Mr. Jett and Mr.Ventre says “Wild killer whales can swim a hundred miles daily as they socialize, forage, communicate, and breed. In stark contrast, with little horizontal or vertical space in their enclosures, captive orcas swim only limited distances, with most spending many hours surface resting.” The animals don't have the freedom they need. Also when taking the whales out of their natural habit the whales tend to be depressed and not as heath in that situation. They need their freedom in the big ocean blue. Bring them into the small living units, breeding whales in captivity all for the entertainment of humans. At young ages the calves are taken away from their mothers on to a new seaworld park. Mothers of the calves have even been seen denying their offspring.
Thesis Statement: Closing SeaWorld’s doors would be unjust, however; SeaWorld can repair its image by providing excellent care for its current residents and by shifting the business model from entertainment to rescue, rehabilitate and release at all locations.
Negative publicity from the film Blackfish could adversely affect the company’s reputation and the financial results. Company’s earnings and capital play a significant role for the investors. Financial disability will profoundly influence the business since it could end up in bankruptcy. SeaWorld Entertainment may involve itself in lending practices and acquisitions and this will hinder the number of customers thus exposing the business to a regulatory action and litigation. (Parsons, 45)
Imagine being alone, locked in your home for years. People can look in, they can see everything you do, but you have no socialization. The only thing you are able to do day in and day out is walk around and around. Would this affect your mental state? Well, it is affecting some of the killer whales and dolphins that are living in captivity. This is one explanation for why they are attacking their trainers. There are hundreds of aquariums around the world, which have killer whale and dolphins’ shows. These shows attract millions of people on a daily basis. An example of this is Sea World’s Shamu Killer Whale shows.
In conclusion, keeping animals in captivity has negative effects such as animal abuse and psychological stress or aggressiveness. But, there are benefits such as research and conserving endangered species. SeaWorld is trying to do the positive aspects and you should support them
Animal cruelty cases: Every single day countless new cruelty cases are discovered where the extent of animal suffering purposely caused is sickening. Many cases will never be discovered. The cases are just a tiny portion of the horrors that happen every day to numerous innocent animals that are completely undeserving of such malicious, vicious acts.
This does not change it as zoos are here as conservation and education; we are here to save the animals, and make more people aware of the situation at hand. I believe that we shouldn’t turn our heads or back to problems that zoos are suffering, going through misunderstanding or beliefs of what others say. This means propaganda, misinformation, or organizations; for example, PETA, should not matter on what actions we are to make. We have a job to do for these animals, and this world; because if we don’t take that first leap, then we have not just lost the fight but we have lost the
