There should be a community center that focuses on the distinct cultures of people that live in SeaTac. I have also noticed that there are not a lot of recreational sites and most residents go to other districts and cities for entertainment. This will allow for the residents to connect to their city and in result be an enjoyable place to live. If the people are engaged and know their city well this will lessen the effect of the other issues of urban design and increase the legibility and the people’s perception of the city is important. This city should become more community based especially on the unrepresented people and be recognized as a growing diverse city.
My proposed plan for this site is to create a community center. This could be …show more content…

Sea-Tac area has accessible transportation. The A-line stops all around SeaTac and just last year a new station was added which has made it easier for the residents who travel to Seattle Area. I choose these demographics because Sea-Tac is growing city with a diverse group people and I was curious about the income of the families. When I doing some research on the demographics of the residents of Sea-Tac I found that 20.5% of the population are in poverty and about 26,965 people who are mainly families live below the poverty line which is higher than the national average of 14.7%. The most well-known race or ethnicity living below the poverty line neediness line in SeaTac, WA is Black or African American, trailed by White and Hispanic or Latino. While researching I also found that the most common jobs in SeaTac, WA by a number of employees are Administrative; sales and Transportation. After seeing that transportation was one of the top jobs in Sea-Tac and it explains why Sea-Tac has a variety of transportation and a regular A-line transit/rail travel and I wanted to see how frequent the transit is. The community site development would be a convenient place to get to since it is located in an area that is walkable and close to it there is the 195th Angle Lake bus stop and Angle Lake light rail station. The frequent transit and rail station helps the residents …show more content…

My proposal was this site is to develop a community center This could be a social place where individuals come and hang out. There could be an adolescent focus as well and events that can be arranged for all people to come and participate in. This site is walkable and there are many individuals who stroll past this site to get to Angle Lake Park and so it would be advantageous for those individuals it is situated here. This project allowed me to discover different aspects of a city that I have lived in for years and have learned more about the elements that make up a city and I’m able to identify them. I also got the chance to gain skills on map making and learned how to make maps on different demographics in cities which was interesting. I have also learned about how the elements that are used to build the structure of a city and the importance of how people perceive the environment. The observer which are the people select, organize, and gives a meaning to what’s being seen while the environment suggests characterizes and relations. In addition to that, I learned that cities should be built for the people and be a place where all people could live in comfortably and meet most of their needs. There should be more demand for public space for pedestrians, not for cars. Communities are created when people mingle with each other, which is an important part of the urban environment.
