There are a few reasons why I chose this project. First of all, I thought it would be intriguing to do research on density. I believe this project would be very interesting to find out more about, so I decided to make it my science fair project. Next, I believe this project will teach me more about density and help me practice how to calculate it better. It can help me get better and prepare if or when we study it. I was anxious to know the answer of this question for awhile, and am glad to finally find one. To conclude, I am looking forward to seeing my results to this project.

My dependent variable is density, which is what the eggs will be measured and will answer my question. Density is what we use to measure the mass per volume, and I will be putting eggs into water in order to measure density. The density will determine which type of egg; raw, hard boiled, rotten, or frozen, will have the most volume and least when put in water. This variable is very helpful as well, and was one of the reasons I decided to do this project, which was to be better at it. My research will mainly have to do with density, since it is the only science concept I’m doing, so it will be simple to research about. Also, I must learn the right equation for it, which is d=m/v. Besides the word density, the dependent variable of my examination also has a couple of vocabulary words. The words least and most also pertain to this type of variable, because of my research question, which ask for which type of egg has the least and most density. Same and different also go with both my question and dependent variable, only because I ask if some are the same or different. The purpose of our very first lab was to identify the density of tap water and how density can be used to recognize unknown substances. My group and I hypothesized that the unrecognized density would be 0.79g. Going into this experiment we had no clue as to which equations to use. As we read carefully through the packet, we learned to use density = mass/volume to conclude the results of the different densities. During experiments potential error may occur. While doing this project, our pipets could’ve had an extra air bubble and the scale could’ve been thrown off. All of these examples can result in a less accurate answer. Having the knowledge to find the density of liquids is very important if you are involved in the biology, medical, or chemistry field to measure liquids.

The dependent variables are the growth in width of the african violet, the color quality of the plants on a scale of 1-10 based on dark green to yellow, and the length of the earthworm at the beginning and end of the project. For my research project, I am researching if tea stains your teeth. The factors involved in this investigation will be researching egg shells, what they are made of, and their similarity to teeth. I will also be researching tea, and what it’s made of, and how it may or may not stain teeth/egg shells. The variables that I will be investigating will be types of tea, and the length of time the shells are spent in the tea. I am conducting this research project in order to discover if tea stains your teeth. If it does, then I would also like to find what kind of tea stains more and why.
