I am seeking admission to University of Tennessee’s Doctor of Philosophy in School Psychology program for fall 2017 admission. In addition to my academic work in behavioral psychology and applied behavior analysis, I also have a robust background in pre-k and elementary education. I intend to use my current knowledge to build and develop my repertoire in education and psychological principles, while making substantial contributions to educational research and teaching in a university setting.
From a very young age I have taken a particular interest in education, learning processes, and the principles of human behavior. It is this interest that initially drove me to pursue a career in elementary education, and complete my bachelor’s degree in behavioral science. My passion for helping all children maximize skill development and boost learning efficiency has driven me to pursue a doctoral degree in the field of school psychology. I seek to gain knowledge that will enhance my ability to enact beneficial and realistic change and modification to general education and special education classrooms.
Given that I am aware of my purpose to achieve change in education, the most logical means to attaining the necessary knowledge to pursue my graduate education in school psychology. With this new-found knowledge, I would be able to successfully and appropriately implement intelligent modifications and interventions to the structure of programs that continue to afflict students.
