The novel, Sarah’s Key, authored by Tatiana de Rosnay explicates the dreadful occurrence of the Vel d’Hiv incident that transpired in July of 1942. The story conveys the experiences that Sarah, a young Jewish girl from France, endured through the roundup as well as the changes that Julia, an American journalist who lived in Paris, faced in her journey. Julia’s life was forever changed from the journey of learning from the investigation of her family and the seek for Sarah’s story.
Tatiana de Rosnay was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, a French commune west of Paris, on September 28, 1961. Her ancestry consist of English, French and Russian. She is daughter of Joël de Rosnay, Phd from MIT, (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) who is known for being a French scientist, businessman, and a molecular biologist, and Stella Jebb, an English aristocrat. …show more content…

According to an interview Tatiana had, she started writing before Sarah’s Key was published. Tatiana was motivated to compose at the age 11 after reading Anne Frank’s diary, “Rebecca” by Daphne du Maurier and the “Young Visiters” by Daisy Ashford. Tatiana’s first novel was the one she gave her mother on her birthday and from then she realized that her passion was writing. Although her desire was to be a writer, she did not seek for any publications until the year 1992.
