Suspended more than 25 meters above the piazza of the K21 is Tomás Saraceno‘s gigantic installation in orbit. This steel wire construction spans the museum‘s vast glass cupola on three different levels. Positioned within this net structure, which encompasses altogether 2500 m², are half a dozen „spheres“ – inflated spheres having diameters up to 8.5 meters. Visitors have access to this transparent installation, and can move freely between the spheres on all three levels.
In orbit creates a magical landscape, is reminiscent of an ocean of clouds. Those bold enough to venture high into the work set beneath the glass the museum visitors far below them from the withering heights as tiny figures in a model world. Viewed from below or from intermediate levels of the Ständehaus, in opposition, the people entangled in this net seem to be floating and dancing in the ocean of clouds.
This floating wonderland becomes a communication of the future world and its alternative outcomes of empty spaces being filled. When several people enter the daring construction together, their presence sets the waves of it into motion, shifting the tension of the steel ocean wires and the intervals between the three-meshwork levels. "Visitors can bring together their activities within the space, and are able – not unlike spiders in a web – to perceive space through the medium of vibration" Saraceno himself speaks of a new hybrid form of communication.

By desirable qualityof its sheer size, in orbit has no precedent in Saraceno‘s work to date. Even visitors who do not wish to climb the net or hang suspended above the void, but who choose instead to explore the installation in exclusively visual terms are confronted with themes of flight, fall...

Quilty’s choice to reveal the emotional toll of war, and the true scars and something that has often been hidden away raises awareness of the psychological effects and emotional trauma faced by many soldiers returning home from war. quality has create subtle consistency in capturing the emotions of war and the underlying internal physiological battle that is created after war is over and the guns are put away . the scars and bruises may fade but the images are left in ones memory along as they keep the key to their black box of memories wether they like it or not . the topics and borders crossed by quilty is a topic that is very intriguing to me to discover and recreate my own personal stamp on my works such as quilty has .
