San Diego State University (SDSU, San Diego State) is an open exploration college in San Diego, California, and is the biggest and most established advanced education organization in San Diego County. Established in 1897 as San Diego Normal School, it is the third-most seasoned college in the 23-part California State University (CSU). It was situated on a 17-section of land (6.9 ha) grounds on Park Boulevard in University Heights (now the home office of the San Diego Unified School District). It opened with seven employees and 91 understudies; the educational modules was at first restricted to English, history and mathematics.In 1923, the San Diego Normal School got to be San Diego State Teachers College, "a four-year open establishment controlled by the state Board of Education".
By the 1930s the school had outgrown its unique grounds. In 1931 it moved to its present area on a plateau at what was then the eastern edge of San Diego. In 1935, the school extended its offerings past educator training and got to be San Diego State College.In 1960, San Diego State College turned into a part of the California State Colleges framework, now known as The California State University. Organization-environment relations depict certain areas of UCSB in their entirety in which two of those theories include population ecology and neoinstitutional theory. Population ecology and neoinstitutional theory looks at UCSB in divergent perspectives: population ecology looks at UCSB as a living or dying species whereas neoinstitutional theory highlights UCSB’s importance as an establishment to its field of education. With this, I am going to compare both, population ecology and neoinstitutional theory, in relation to the University of California – Santa Barbara. I will further discuss each of their strengths and weaknesses in accordance to the behavior and environment of institution, faculty, staff, and its students.
When I found out I qualified to be a candidate for the NJHS, I knew I had to take this chance. This group is made up of people who depict leadership, character, citizenship, academic success, and service and I would love to join. These characteristics wouldn't just be valuable for a candidate to have, but for everyone to have to exceed in life. If I were to be in the National Junior Honor Society, it would give me an opportunity to ameliorate my future and motivate me to do better.
In “The Fish” by Elizabeth Bishop, the narrator attempts to understand the relationship between humans and nature and finds herself concluding that they are intertwined due to humans’ underlying need to take away from nature, whether through the act of poetic imagination or through the exploitation and contamination of nature. Bishop’s view of nature changes from one where it is an unknown, mysterious, and fearful presence that is antagonistic, to one that characterizes nature as being resilient when faced against harm and often victimized by people. Mary Oliver’s poem also titled “The Fish” offers a response to Bishop’s idea that people are harming nature, by providing another reason as to why people are harming nature, which is due to how people are unable to view nature as something that exists and goes beyond the purpose of serving human needs and offers a different interpretation of the relationship between man and nature. Oliver believes that nature serves as subsidence for humans, both physically and spiritually. Unlike Bishop who finds peace through understanding her role in nature’s plight and acceptance at the merging between the natural and human worlds, Oliver finds that through the literal act of consuming nature can she obtain a form of empowerment that allows her to become one with nature.
The theme death has always played a crucial role in literature. Death surrounds us and our everyday life, something that we must adapt and accept. Whether it's on television or newspaper, you'll probably hear about the death of an individual or even a group. Most people have their own ideas and attitude towards it, but many consider this to be a tragic event due to many reasons. For those who suffered greatly from despair, living their life miserably and hopelessly, it could actually be a relief to them. Death affects not only you, but also those around you, while some people may stay unaffected depending on how they perceive it.
Since the 1980’s the cost of attending colleges have increased rapidly. Rising costs of for Medicare, highways and prisons have caused many states to reduce a percentage of their budget for higher education. Colleges and Universities currently face a very serious challenge:
As I thought of this article, many of the issues I have faced as a single Hmong woman in her mid-twenties came to mind. Should I discuss the functional reasons why marriage is so important in the Hmong culture, especially for women? Or do I talk about the lack of eligible, older Hmong men? Better yet, should I complain about the attempts by my relatives to find me a good husband as if it were an unfortunate circumstance that I was single instead of a conscious choice? Thinking it over, though, I decided that all those questions boiled down to one fundamental truth – the Hmong community is still trying to learn how to treat the increasing number of Hmong women who, like me, are making the choice to stay single in their mid-twenties.

Arizona has first been explored by a European in 1539. In this year, Marcos de Niza, from Spain, explored parts of the area of Arizona. The area which is now known as Arizona was then inhabited by indigenous peoples like the Hopi and the Navajo. Marcos de Niza had met another peoples of the area; the Sobaipuri. There was a legend about the wealthy seven cities of Cibola; seven cities that would be in possession of valuable treasures. Marcos de Niza was informed about Cibola by an Indian informer. When de Niza returned from his exhibition, he claimed he had seen de Seven Cities of Cibola in the distance.
Since 2006, they have awarded more than $1 million dollars to 113 students and have assisted 60 students in achieving their college degrees.
At the start of the semester, my oblivious state of nature associating with the Chinese culture reached an unacceptable level. Implementing a necessary change, I decided to educate myself on different cultures starting with China. I failed to ponder that such a rich, deep culture existed outside America. Encompassed by this country’s unique yet suffocating melting pot culture, my outlook believed ideas such as uniformity between American Chinese food and Authentic Chinese food. After this course, my bigot perspective widened as I witnessed diversity in the world. Before this class, when I thought of Chinese food, my connotation jumped to thoughts associated with chop suey, but as I progressed my education, my mindset gradually pondered foods like steamed buns or “New Year Cakes” with authentic Chinese food.
The state that was chosen for this project is Delaware. Delaware is a small state located in the Mid-Atlantic. Delaware is usually referred to as the first state, because it was the first state to sign the constitution. Delaware can also be called the Blue Hen State because the blue hen is the official bird of Delaware, and because of the blue hens that Delaware soldiers carried around during the revolutionary war. Delaware even has a third nickname, the Diamond state, because Thomas Jefferson said it was a “jewel.”
"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop and look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, '...I can take the next thing that comes along.'...You must do the thing you think you cannot do (Eleanor Roosevelt)." Every time I read these words, I am able to see the truth in them. College to me is the next step that I must take in life. Although this next step comes with much trepidation and apprehension, it is a necessary step that I must take to forever better and prepare myself for the life that I wish to lead. State University would be one of the best institutions for this, just as the choice of high school I made four years ago, Good Counsel, was the next step for me then. During high school, I have grown and changed through not only the education I have gained, but also through the activities I participated in. I have gained a lot of strengths from my time spent in high school. Although every weakness has not been erased, the next step in life will ease their numbers even more.
