INTRODUCTION
I attended a workshop in 2008 titled “Joining a Healthcare Profession”. The workshop explored different careers in which nursing was included. After the workshop, I evaluated my talents, interests, values, and eventually decided to pursue a career in nursing. I enrolled in a Nursing Assistant School and became certified after three weeks of classes and one week of clinical. I was employed and started working as a Nurse Aid in a nursing home. The compliments given by my colleagues, residents and their family members motivated me to enroll in a Licensed Practical Nurse program. I graduated in the year 2011 and started working

To achieve this, I am currently taking pre-requisite classes, which I will transfer to a 4 year college to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, after which ,I will do two years of training to become a certified NP. Despite the disadvantages of exposure to diseases, and working during holidays and weekends, being an NP is a rewarding career in terms of an increase in salary/wage, flexibility in hours works, a stable career, specialization, and the option of opening of a private practice which would make me an employer of labor. US news established a national average salary of $95,449 for nurse practitioner .This high wage will jump my family income by 60% .This will enable me to go on vacation with my two children to places like France, Canada, London and West Africa. I will be able to pay my children college tuition, without applying for school loans and they may also attends any college of their choices including Ivy League colleges in United States. The dream of becoming an Employer of labor will be actualized, since nurse practitioner can open a solo practice in 26 states out of 50 states in United
They do many of the same tasks, like performing minor surges, fixing broken bones, or simply giving a routine check-up. Becoming a nurse practitioner takes many years of schooling, good grades, a lot of time, dedication, and money. Many nurse practitioners specialize in different fields. One might specialize in becoming a geriatric nurse practitioner. A geriatric nurse will design workout programs for recovering patients, and might also act as a counselor to elderly patients.
My interest in nursing is fairly new; I had not explored the potential that a nursing career can offer. I became familiar with nursing professionally after becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. While working with patients, side-by-side with nurses I became enamored with the potential of a nursing career. I now have a rewarding career working as a Medical-Surgical nurse on a Medical University Hospital floor that specializes in Transplant, Nephrology and Urology. Nursing encompasses the ideologies that fuel my passion, upon further research, and conversation with coworkers I realize my career goal of Family Nurse Practitioner; affording me the privilege to care for others by reaching out to various

Nursing came in a round-about way for me. I had little direction when I graduated high school and had already disregarded the nursing field due to an incident with a family member (who was a nurse) that had left a negative impression about the nursing field on me. I entered college planning on a pre-med or biology major. I had built up a vision of college being different- scholarly, intellectual, advanced- different somehow than school before. I soon was disillusioned. My first biology course was a bitter disappointment and I turned away from any thoughts of a medical/health related career altogether.
Nurse Practitioners in Neonatal care are extraordinary individuals, who have studied hard, invested emotionally, worked alongside with doctors, saved many babies, and comforted those families who had to let their babies go. I have had my own personal experience in which I came into close contact with several of these kinds of nurses. With my personal experience, I have discovered this is the kind nurse I want to become. According to NANN, National Association of Neonatal Nurses, states that "Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNP) are advanced practice nurses who work with the physicians and nursing staff to provide comprehensive critical care to the infants in the NICU." (Is) In my research in becoming a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, I looked into the history of the role, my personal experience, educational requirements, schools, the workplace environment, salary, and responsibilities.

In all states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories, registered nurses must have a nursing
My courses and experience has empowered, and has reinforced my determination to pursue a career as a nurse. I am eager and excited about starting nursing school, and having my dream which started as a young girl to come full circle. I am convinced I am a good candidate because I have the innate drive to complete the program. I am willing to learn and use those skills and knowledge acquired to provide something meaningful to the society and humanity. I have the personal determination to face the challenges and rigors of nursing school. With hard work, perseverance, and determination I believe I have the essential character to be successful as a nursing student and an excellent quality nurse in the near future. A degree in nursing paves ways for other degrees to emerge especially for those interested in furthering their education in health care. I am committed to continue to pursed advanced degree in nursing ultimately becoming a nurse practitioner. . In the next five to ten years from now, I want to write articles and books about nursing and healthcare related. Therefore, I believe that if I improve myself further positively, I will grow from strength to strength and one day my paper will be read in one of the prestigious newsletters, journals, and textbooks. I know the sky is my starting

Adult Nursing is a very rewarding career which provides endless opportunities. I would describe myself as a caring and compassionate person. I believe I possess these qualities naturally. I am compelled to put other people’s needs before my own. I can contribute my personal qualities to this course of being dedicated and determined into committing myself to this 3 year course and excelling academically. Personally, caring for my mother with high blood pressure made me interested in the world of medicine. This long term sickness inspired me to gain more experience outside of the home and volunteer which confirmed that this was the right course for me. I am fascinated by the practical aspect that the course involves as well as the theoretical
Nursing is a profession that blends the rich traditions of the past with the ever changing realities of today's health care industry. Nursing is not simply an assortment of special skills and the nurse is not simply a person proficient in performing these specific tasks. Nursing is a profession. I believe this statement to be true because of several factors. The Title 19 Code for Nurses is titled "Standards for Professional Nursing Practice". The status of nursing as a profession reflects the values that society places on the work of nurses and how central nursing is to the good of society. "By being a professional we imply that the person is conscientious in actions, knowledgeable in the subject and responsible to self and others." (Potter & Perry, 1993, p. 27)
My reasons for selecting a career in nursing stem directly from my desire to help our prospering population and community. This career appeals to me because it embodies what I strive to become, a person of influence, a guide, a respected adult, a mentor, and a person that can be trusted and looked up to with great passion. Another reason for selecting a career in nursing has a lot to do with my current job position at Generations Elder Care. Working with the elderly community at this personal care home has enriched my life in many ways, including one for my passion of learning more about the nursing field. As I shadowed the nurses entering the facility I watched them do their assessments on the residents which has peaked my curiosity. I believe being a nurse presents daily challenges which are unique, interesting, and rewarding and that is another reason why I want to become a nurse. Knowing that I have helped someone in some way possible gives me a feeling of fulfillment and enjoyment that I never understood or had before. And this career offers just that, and that is exactly why I...
