I continue to hope that one day marriage can be defined differently. Marriage will soon be the union between two humans in love, as long as it does not pose any possible negative effects on their potential children. So far, same-sex marriages has done nothing to destroy the institution or validity of marriage or love. The main issue with the arguments against same-sex marriage are that the arguments are based on false assumptions or false premises. None of the arguments against same-sex marriage have any real back-up or hard evidence.
In the end, everyone should be treated equal. It is just simply wrong to deny any human the right to marry someone of the same sex; it is unlawful, unjust, and unfair. In the future same sex marriage must be legal all over the United States. Same sex couples just want happiness just like couples of the opposite sex. Works Cited "Gay Marriage: Children With Same-Sex Parents 'Happier And Healthier' Study Says” Huffington Post [United Kingdom] n.d., n. pag.
Such legal moves, as well as the efforts by lesbian and gay couples to be recognized as such, face denunciation from some conservative voices who assert that by nature and divine will only relationships between men and women can be considered "natural". And, to be honest, there is also an unease expressed by some lesbian and gay activists who, recalling the critique of patriarchy made by 1970's feminism, see "marriage" as an irretrievably heterosexual institution. Same-sex marriages should be legal everywhere in the United States of America. According to the Constitution, marriage is a civil right that all Americans are born with. Our country has decided by passing the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in 1996 that two people of the same gender cannot get married.
Yet, that is nothing to the percent of people 60+; only 16% of these people believe same-sex marriage should be legal. Another viewpoint people have about same-sex marriages is that same-sex couples should be involved in civil unions, not marriages. Less than 30% of people 18-29 believe same-sex couples should be allowed to enter a civil union; while over 30% of people older than the age of 30 believe they should be allowed to enter civil unions. Now the total opposition to same sex marriage is a close race. 30% of 18-29 year olds and 37-39% of people 30 and older believe gay marriage should not be recognize under law.
God loves everyone equally the same and they feel like if God can still love them, why cannot we. Therefore, homosexuals who want to be married just want the same rights and treatments as heterosexuals. Legalizing gay marriage has caused many problems in the society today. The U.S. Constitution is making some people go against their religious beliefs because of this law. I personally do not think people should have to go against their religion to support something that God would not be pleased with.
Today’s society argues widely the correctness of same-sex marriage. Marriage for many people is believed to be a relationship between two people, preferably man and woman. The LGBT community battles for their right to marry without being denied by the government. The legalization of same-sex marriage in the United States has great importance for the future of marriage equality throughout the LBGT community. Same-sex marriage will not harm the function of society or other marriages in it, as well as being protected by the Constitution, and relieves lifelong discrimination.
Furthermore, it should be legal across the world. Gender should not play a role in marriage because gender is irrelevant when it comes to being in love. If it was legalized, same-sex couples would be able to publicly display their commitment to each other, have the same benefits as heterosexual couples, stop being referred to as inferior, create more revenue for the government, and it will also help the gay, lesbian, and bi-sexual people’s physical and mental health. “If anybody can find someone to love them and to help them through this difficult thing called life, I support that in any shape or form,” (Will Smith).
Not only does some humans have a problem with individuals being gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender; people also has an issue with same sex marriage. Love and marriage shouldn 't have a gender to it, because love just happens. People shouldn 't sacrifice their happiness in marrying someone who doesn 't make them happy just to be accepted and not be judged. Even through, president Obama legalize same sex marriage on June 26, 2015 in all 50 state, there still individuals who are opposing this law. If president Obama believe that everyone was created equal and that he had made the union a little more perfect, why are other people trying to fight and screw up the almost perfect America.
Same-sex couples also don’t have the right to protections like a heterosexual couple would if their relationship were to end. These rights include child custody, child or spousal support, and equal divisions of property (“Pro & Con Arguments: ‘Should Gay Marriage Be Legal?’ “). Even the White House website lists same-sex marriage amongst a selection of civil rights. Why is it so hard for people to let one person love another? No matter race, gender, religion, or sexuality the people of the United States should be allowed to love and marry whomever they
(Gay 3) Many proponents argue that not allowing gay marriage is classified as unconstitutional discrimination. The right to Marriage isn’t just another “thing”. Marriage, is considered, to be defined as the culmination of the love you have for your mate. But if a couple isn’t allowed the right to marriage then this could lead to the relationship becoming “stale” or “not complete”. Marriage offers 1,138 Federal benefits, including hundreds more depending on state laws.
