In the end, everyone should be treated equal. It is just simply wrong to deny any human the right to marry someone of the same sex; it is unlawful, unjust, and unfair. In the future same sex marriage must be legal all over the United States. Same sex couples just want happiness just like couples of the opposite sex. That is what makes us such great country. We have our freedom to express who we are, but the gays do not because the older generations do not approve? There are so many things that are good about gay marriage. When gay marriage is allowed it is giving everyone their right to be married. This is important because we should all be able to get married when we see fit in our lives, no matter who we want our spouse to be.
Many places don’t allow gays to adopt and many couples don’t allow their children to be adopted by gay couples. Gays aren’t any different from us they do the same thing us they are just same sex couples. But they also want to be able to have children like hetero sexual couples are able to have. Allowing gay adoption to be equal and fair would not harm a child’s development in anyway it would actually help all of the kids that don’t have homes and are in foster homes. And it would save so much heart ache for the gay couples trying to adopt.
Same sex marriages should not be banned because it is untraditional; but should be recognized like any other marriage involves love and it might be different but we all should be recognized as equals. For example, some people think that letting homosexual become an official union redefines the idea of marriage all together. (Rauch) Rauch states, “ I think the best definition of marriage is the one that most married people sign up for in their vows; “To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness or in health, until death do us part.” Extending the boundaries to include gay couples does not weaken that definition-it reinforces it.” The gay community embodies the idea of loving no matter who they are we should not pass judgment on them because they are not the pretty picture of a happy ma and women behind their white picket fence with children. Most Americans often believe that same sex marriages will diminish the value of the marriage itself. Which is a false conclusion based on a bias premise.
This is just a few to the many inequalities that homosexuals face in everyday life. The constitution guarantees the right to free speech and the right to pursue happiness to everyone, although homosexuals do not get to live their life by their choice. Most Americans will claim that they are in favor of equal rights for homosexuals. They will all say that gays should have the same rights in housing, jobs, and public accommodations and they should have equal access to government benefits and equal protection of the law. The average American thinks that homosexuals deserve all the rights that heterosexuals, but gay marriage is dead wrong.
Denying gay marriage affects gay and lesbian couples and lets people think that is acceptable to discriminate against them. Even though same-sex couples are not natural, people should be able to get married to whomever they want no matter the gender because you can’t invariably choose who you fall in love with and everyone should be equal and not discriminated against. All over the nation gays are discriminated against for many reasons, they are asked various questions such as if they can raise kids, provide a stable environment, and if their child’s development is effected by their parent’s sexual orientation. Statistics show that children raised by homosexual couples thrive just as well, some even better than heterosexual couple’s children. Their families are not really divergent from any other traditional family.
His support for gay marriage was itself a landmark turn, but just as notable was its indirect affirmation of gay couples as parents, which served to rebut the standard argument against gay marriage, that it risks the well being of children and the family. Gay marriage should be legal in all states, it gives someone a chance to be loved. You wouldn't just be making one couples dreams come true, but many others as well.Everyone deserves to fall in love with who ever they want, and deserve to take the next step which is marriage.Everyone deserves a chance to be more open about there feelings, and with everyone accepting them it would not be a problem.Give others the opportunity you have but they do not .
Marriage should be about the love two individuals share, not what gender they are. Most people believe marriage should be between a man and a woman; however society has changed over the years. For a variety of reasons, same sex marriage should be legal in the United States, because every individual should be treated equally and be able to share a life together with the rights and responsibilities of a married couple. “Opponents of same-sex marriage argue that, with few exceptions, marriage has always been about uniting the two sexes and linking mother and father to children. Change that, and marriage ceases to be marriage” (Rauch p. B.2).
The Human Rights Campaign, which work to achieve equal rights for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender people, is supporting the effort to attain survivor benefits for domesticate partners. Currently, there are no programs that give homosexuals survivor benefits like the ones that are provided for heterosexuals who are married or divorced. The ones who suffer the greatest repercussions of such prejudices are the children of gay and lesbian couples. Non-biological children of gays and lesbians cannot receive survivor benefits if the deceased partner did not legally adopt them. But how is this related to whether or not homosexuals should be allowed to marry?
Support Society and religion have so strongly engraved into people’s minds that same sexes should not be with each other that they may be inclined to be naive about what sometimes happens to th... ... middle of paper ... ... is the same reason why heterosexuals marry, they want to finalize their love and make it official that they belong to each other. Gay couples should be allowed to do the same. Let us also not set aside the fact that marriage is a civil right, and that the constitution protects against liberty and equality, two inalienable rights being denied to these individuals. Conclusion The right to marriage should be given to all people alike. It should not be denied on any basis, especially not because a person happens to be in love with someone of the same sex.
