Running a business or organization can be challenging, however, if there is strategic planning in place then the task seems less daunting. Strategic planning consists of carefully thinking about strengths and weaknesses and carefully comparing one business to another (Bateman & Snell, 2013). The same SWOT method can also be utilized for oneself when seeking a job or considering a career change (Bateman & Snell, 2013). As it is job searching can be challenging, however, a SWOT analysis can help a person determine what they are good at? What weaknesses does the person need to overcome to ensure higher success in the job market? What businesses offer the best opportunities? Is there a lot of competition in the particular field selected? (Bateman & Snell, 2013, p. 147).
