Born in Goa, with its many famous beaches, I grew up along the seaside. As a child I have spent my evenings watching huge marine vessels entering and leaving the port and developed curiosity about the working of huge ships. Because 70 % of the planet is covered with water, sea transport has been the largest carrier of freight throughout recorded human history. A lot remains to be explored about the water bodies in the world; moreover, the rising crunch on land resources will force further exploration of the seas and the oceans areas to replace them. Be it floating cities or floating international airports or for that matter bulk intercontinental transportation by marine vessels, water bodies, across continents, water bodies serve to be a useful medium, and the engineering and science needed to understand its dynamics is in demand.
I realize that there is a great need to build more efficient and environmental friendly ships. My keen interest made me choose Marine Engineering as my undergraduate field of study where I acquired a strong background in the basic subjects like Marine Hydraulics and fluid machinery, Stability of ships, Ship construction, Marine System and Machinery design, Marine Vehicles Performance, Computer Aided Marine Engineering Design. Having a solid understanding of these subjects will certainly help me to excel in subjects like Advanced Ship Dynamics, Advanced Ship Structural Analysis, Principles of Naval Engineering, Naval Ship System Design Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics. Which are offered at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
I have enjoyed working on the practical aspects of engineering more than the theoretical aspects, Hence. I have visited various ship yards namely chowgule...

Longshore drift is a process by which sediments are transported from one place to another. When this process occurs, beaches, spits and sandbars are accreted over time. If the process of longshore drift is altered by factors such as stronger winds and stronger currents, beach erosion begins at a faster rate and this may result in many serious problems. The main stakeholders of longshore drift are resort owners. They rely on people to visit their resorts and enjoy the beach. However, if longshore drift erodes t...
As an Earth and Oceanographic Science major at Bowdoin College, the courses offered at Bowdoin are more generalized for all earth systems such as rock processes, surface processes, and ocean processes. I want a more intense study of ocean processes, like the carbon cycle and biological pump. I am very interested the field experience I could gain on a tall ship. This is
Bjorn Ericksen and his team have embarked on a long and expensive project designed to help them win the next Whitbread World Sailboat Race. Using the above proposed plan, the team should be well prepared to design, build and sail their vessel to victory. Although they are certain to experience setbacks, problems and delays, having a priority matrix, a project network, and a Gantt chart will provide a solid plan that will easily keep their project on track. Once they have finished the race and reviewed their performance, defending their championship will become next year's objective.
The career I want to pursue when I go to college is in marine science. This career sparks my interests and fits my character style. As a child, I was intrigued by stories that took place in the ocean or along the beach. Sea creatures and indigenous areas always left me wanting to learn more. Even though natural disasters were devastating, they caught my attention too. The college I selected is the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) I found it to be an affordable college choice and have the most academic advantages in my career choice to become a Marine Biologist. Although I have not participated in many marine aquatic activities, I still chose to research the career path to becoming a Marine Biologist.

There are two causes of ocean currents: wind and convection. The more important of the two is convection. The act of convection in a fluid is the tendency of a heated part of the fluid to rise up due to the fact the it is less dense and it is replaced by cooler fluid which is then heated, rises up, and again replaced by cooler fluid. There has been plenty of recent research on the topic of ocean currents and convection, some of which might change the way we view the ocean. In this paper I will explain exactly what convection is, I will explain how and why it makes such a drastic effect in our ocean, and I will discuss the latest research that has been done on ocean currents.
Learning is a continuous process and the day that you stop learning is the day that you start decreasing your rewards and lower levels of satisfaction. My ardent desire to acquire knowledge has motivated me to pursue higher studies at graduate level, and to take up a career in research in industry. I have taken this decision after carefully considering my academic background, profound interest in research and strong aptitude for problem solving. Banking on an excellent academic record coupled with a keen interest in the ever-growing field of science and technology motivated me to take up engineering.
The United States Naval Academy is an ideal institution in that it provides tools to give those who wish to give service to their country knowledge and a degree. To obtain a degree in Engineering is an unwavering objective, the Naval Academy is the keystone to accomplishing that objective while fulfilling my commitment to serve. An education at the USNA is more than an education, it is an edification that will prepare me to join a leading rank of officers by offering skills that are nonpareil, and it is an education that will cultivate bonds and unity that are indissoluble even from the hands of time. After experiencing Summer Seminar, I first hand saw what hard work and persistence poured into an education at the USNA can do for I and my country, and I would be honored to pour every part of me into the laborious pathway through the United States Naval
During my childhood a series of course in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry reintroduced me into these subjects, but now with an Engineering bent courses like Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Kinematics of Machinery, Dynamics of Machinery, Thermodynamics and Automobile Engineering laid in me the strong fundamentals and problem solving techniques. Further courses like Design of Machine Elements, Metallurgy and Material Science and CAD/CAM exposed me to new ideas of today’s Engineering problems. But computer relative subjects CAD/CAM and Advance IC Engines are my most favourite subjects and I have completed a course on AUTOCAD, CREO 2.0, NX CAD, Hyper Mesh, ANSYS 15.0 in CADD CENTER,
... of Ottawa has the right program for motivated engineers to hone and enhance their skills and become leaders of tomorrow. I have strong interests in the fields of Manufacturing Systems, CAD/CAM, Product Design and Development, Production Planning Scheduling and Control, Optimization and Operational Research. Urge to learn more in these fields encourages me to opt for Master of Engineering (MEng) in Mechanical Engineering at your prestigious university.
Mechanical Engineering is a subset of engineering that applies: principles of engineering, physics, materials science, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It involves the production and usage of mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. As one of the oldest groups of engineering, it made its voyage to the United States in the 1840’s. This was due to the expansion of the United States Navy and its academy. The engineering program began to explode after 1874 as it was then considered to be a two or four year education. That same year Mechanical Engineering became the first course offered for this field. The Naval Academy received accreditation as an "approved technological institution" in 1930. In 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt signed into law an act of Congress providing for the Bachelor of Science Degree for the Naval, Military, and Coast Guard Academies (Brownell). The class of 1933 was the first to receive a degree in mechanical engineering and have it inscribed in their diploma. Later on, the engineering majors program began with the Class of 1972 being the first class required to complete a major to graduate. The first designated engineering degre...

In college I continued to do well in all subjects that were related to mechanical Engineering and this fact is reflected in my grades. I have top grades in Physics-1(Engineering Mechanics), Mechanics of Solids, Advanced Mechanics of Solids, Production Techniques, etc.
My father, being a chemical engineer, inspired in me an innate desire to be a chemical engineer myself. I appeared for the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) and was placed in the top 1% of the 1,100,000 students who had taken the exam. I chose Chemical Engineering as my undergraduate major at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur which provided me the opportunity to explore the breadth of chemical engineering. While the core courses provided the fundamentals of the field, the electives that I chose helped me gain an insight into the various facets of chemical engineering.
Looking back after nine years, I could not feel more assured that at that time, I made the right choice. My unusual combination of experiences sets me worlds apart from not only a normal engineer but also from a marine engineer at similar position. Working for a big shipping company, exclusively on international assignments in high tech, capital intensive and rising LNG industry is the kind of job I had envisioned at the time of finishing my graduation. I could not have come here without that choice I made back then.
