In your opinion what was the reasons for the Rose’s divorce and why do you think the divorce ended so tragically?

Response:
War of the Roses’ was an exceptional divorce movie. The movie started off with how Barbara and Oliver first met, love at first sight (fight) at the auction. Then the two having what normal would have been a one-night stand, but it didn’t happen that way the couple was united from that point on. Personally, I feel Barbara’s go getter, nonsense attitude, and gymnastic capabilities is what hooked Oliver, not just her beauty. The movie slowly took you through their life after the they were married. At first you see how in love the couple were, supporting each other, building a family, and showering each other with gifts. Barbara’s character slowly transitioned from a working woman bringing home her paycheck to stay at home mom and homemaker. Simultaneously Oliver’s character transitioned from law student to becoming a Partner in the law …show more content…

However, Barbara played a role in some of their problems. After their son- Josh and daughter- Carolyn went to college and the house was completely furnished and decorated Barbara was left with nothing to do, she suffered from the empty nest syndrome. Oliver was so buried in own career he did not realize what and why Barbara was trying to open her own catering business. Instead of being supportive he dismissed her interest in opening her business. Barbara would ask for his opinion and contractual advice he would not readily help and was very condescending. All the while Oliver was happy with the way things were he never noticed how hurt and frustrated Barbara was becoming. His ego and thinking she was content with him being the bread winner blurred his vision to what was really going on in their
