In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, fate plays a substantial role. The Capulets and Montague quarrel plays a big part in this play because it starts this whole cycle. Romeo meets Juliet at the Capulet party, and when Romeo gets banished because he killed Tybalt, Juliet fakes death to be able to be with Romeo in marriage in Mantua. At the end Romeo and Juliet both die because of the misunderstanding that Juliet is faking her death. Did fate play a hand in all of this madness? Fate played a major role because there was never a moment without something that would not have happened without fate in the story of these star-crossed lovers.
Without fate, Romeo and Juliet would have never met. When Peter asked them to read the guest list for him, he did not know that Romeo and his friends were Montagues. They would not have known about the party without this and since Romeo and Juliet met at the Capulet’s party, this meeting between Peter and Romeo started the whole cycle.
