Rome’s Identity
You ever wondered what Rome’s identity is? Rome is a unique city to Italy because of its past, ruins and its current status. If one looked at Rome’s past they would see that the Roman Empire dominated the areas around them in the early AD. In formations of legion, it was said that the Romans had many different formations to counter their enemies’ armies to win wars plus conquer other cities. Rome also built some amazing buildings like their piazzas, chapels, Pantheon, Roman Forum and the Colosseum. All these, as well as gardens, are beautiful though some are in ruins or surrounded by ancient ruins like the Roman forum. The Roman Form was known to be the most important forum in ancient Rome. This forum held “meetings, law courts, plus gladiatorial combats in republican times and was lined with shops also open-air markets” ( The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica.) This was the center for religious, secular spectacles along with ceremonies. It also was by the cities temples as well as their monuments. Today, Rome being the capital of Italy still hold courts, temples plus make laws. Rome also owns piazzas which is like a Times Square although in Rome. The top 3 piazzas in Rome are Piazza Di Spagna, Piazza Navona, including Piazza San Pietro rated by “10 Most Beautiful Squares in Rome.” Every single one of these piazzas exist for their own reasons while beautifully made from Roman’s style of art. After looking at the Roman Empire and seeing how they obtained the world’s superpower 2,000 years ago while constructing amazing buildings and gardens like the Piazzas, Forums as well as the Colosseum. People can definitely say Rome was and still is a unique city. Rome has so many different types of people including religions that one may not always see just Christianity, although the majority of Italy is Christian you will see a variety in Rome. Yes, there are tons of migrants coming into to Italy causing issues like what is happening at the Tiburtina station in Rome and how they haven’t found a solution to solve the problem yet but don’t let that stop you from seeing the beauty of Rome. All and all Rome is a great city to go on vacation at. Society can see the history of the Roman Empire just visiting the ancient ruins that underwent thousands of years. Some people might also fall in love with their Piazzas in addition to Romans art style. Who knows, maybe you will fall in love with someone special there because Rome is also known for
