George is a role model for Lennie, as many kids tend to look up to their parents as role models. George is the protector of Lennie and does a lot for him. Lennie always gets into big trouble but George being the friend that he is to Lennie, he always leaves everything behind including his paychecks, and goes with Lennie and helps him get out of trouble, he does it all for Lennie. When Lennie and George get to the ranch the boss notices all the things George had done and does for Lennie and says, “Well, I never seen one guy take so much trouble for another guy” (22). While Lennie is getting in trouble it also falls upon George, he takes it upon himself to do so, and so he tries to explain the right way with things, as Lennie is a young boy but is trapped in an older body, that his how he acts. …show more content…

An example would be a mouse. For Lennie is a strong big guy and ends up killing the mouse by all his strengths but keeps it in his pocket. George gets frustrated with Lennie keeping the dead mouse in his pocket and wants Lennie to hand the mouse over to him so George explains, “I ain’t takin’ it away jus’ for meanness. That mouse ain’t fresh, Lennie; and besides, you’ve broke it pettin’ it. You get another mouse that’s fresh and I’ll let you keep it a little while” (9). George is trying to look out for Lennie and teach him the right and wrong things to do. He tries to stop and fix things before it ends into something even worse. George knows how Lennie gets when they have been in many situations before like the reason they got ran out of Weed. Because of the trouble the two guys have been through George finds it necessary to explain to Lennie,If you look up ‘friend’ in the dictionary the definition is: A person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard. Your best friend is the person that would stay with you through everything, rights and wrongs. In Of Mice and Men, George and Lennie are best
