For the past few years, living legend Robert De Niro has veered away from the type of dramatic roles that made him the Hollywood icon he is today. Instead, De Niro – who has absolutely earned the right to do whatever he wants – has lent his talents almost exclusively to the comedy genre. With roles in such films as The Big Wedding, Last Vegas, and Grudge match, it’s blatantly obvious De Niro is continuing to broaden the spectrum – likely stemming from the successes from the Meet the Parents series. And, although the vast majority of us don’t necessarily equate De Niro with comedy – he certainly has a knack for making even the most superfluous roles enjoyable. Jules can be tough to interact with – given her driven nature and busy work schedule. Still, Ben is persistent and eventually wins Jules over – becoming her everyday driver, close confidant, and friend. At the same time, Jules’s company is growing at and expediential rate – forcing her to look for an outside CEO that has experience with managing and growing a company. Coincidentally, Jules is also having problems with her husband, Matt (Anders Holm), who gave up his career to be a stay-at-home dad. Within the first few opening moments of this film, the joyful good nature of this story hits you in the face like a ton of bricks. The Intern radiates positivity and demonstrates a relentless exuberance that sends a resounding message that age isn’t everything – and it certainly doesn’t hinder one’s devotion to a cause. Everyone visibly ages, but this film is proof that anyone can be young and loyal at …show more content…
He’s punctual to work, loyal, friendly, and in no way allows his age (or lack of experience in the technical department) to hinder his ability to learn. Everyone loves him, and when someone has as much love for life and experience, why shouldn’t you? De Niro’s co-star, Anne Hathaway, delves into an entirely different character, altogether – giving viewers a reasonable view through the looking glass of what it’s like to be the head of an upstart company. There aren’t enough hours in the day for Jules Ostin to accomplish everything that comes across her desk, yet Hathaway rarely has a hair out of place, let alone bags under the eyes (like most people in her position would). Still, Hathaway – who hasn’t been overly active on the big screen as of late (since her dominant reign in 2012) – is the perfect selection to portray Jules, especially since the life of an A-list Hollywood celebrity is somewhat comparable to a sleep deprived CEO. And, even despite her character’s rapidly shifting attention, her quality of character is that of a awe-inspiring – given that she works ridiculous hours and still has time for her husband and
If I were to describe Sinbad’s style of comedy, I would have to say it to be much different than that of Richard Pryor. Sinbad’s humor is more family oriented. His homegrown humor is comparable to Bill Cosby, and his good hearted party nature is similar to Sammy Davis Jr. He is one who, like Pryor, has used his fame to help bring people together in a positive environment, such as his “Share the Dream” tour of historically black colleges and “The Sinbad Soul Festival” which performs all over the world.
Danny DeVito’s acting range is undoubtedly impressive, as can be seen from his wide range of films he has been in from Batman Returns where he is a grotesque -- almost a horror-like -- villain to his role in The Lorax where he is a tree loving creature that wants to protect the environment (Danny Devito). The differences in these roles exhibit what amazing range DeVito Brings to the table when acting, showing he can be a grotesque monster who dwells within the sewers and eats raw fish (Batman Returns) or a loveable, nature advocating, orange rolemodel for children who speaks for the trees (Lorax). This variety of roles he has been able to portray is astounding, acting in more than 50 movies, he is also clearly able to pull off these roles well, executing almost every role to its fullest potential, as a great actor does. His acting range on television is just as impressive, such as his role on It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia with a more comedic tone, at one point becoming a wrestler named The Trash Man, compared to appearing on Sesame Street being an effective teacher for children and entertaining them (Danny DeVito). From his more raunchy acting pursuits on television, he is able to pull off the timing and punchlines of the show perfectly week after week. As for his appearance on Sesame Street, his softer, more gentle side is able to be brought forth for children, making him a perfect candidate for that aswell. His nearly twenty series he has been in speaks to how valued an actor he really is, as many people tune in every week in order to view his acting prowess. When describing DeVito’s early years, he is described as “DeVito’s performances play to this softening, employing his ability ability to slide between naturalism and cartoonish excess,” (Danny DeVito). Bill Cosby has a starred in a long list of funny movies. His recent television series, Cosby, has not been very successful. His movie, Leonard Part 6, was a big disappointment, also. Bill Cosby continues to work hard to entertain us with quality humor. He has more successful shows to his credit than disappointments.
Heath Ledger takes up the role of the Joker, the main antagonist in this film. In his role, he played a side of the Joker never seen before – a psychotic, ruthless, sadistic killer who does not care for money, but wants to establish fear and anarchy into Gotham. His performance is outstanding, unlike anything ever seen. A part of you almost wants him to defeat...
Robin Williams was a standup comedian and actor, who was in films such as Mrs. Doubtfire, Aladdin, and Dead Poets Society. Ben Stiller in an interview with Rolling Stone says: “He made many, many film crews laugh out loud before the audiences ever saw it. He made such a big impact on the world. So there is the man, and his talent and I think in his case both were extraordinary” (Montgomery). Robin Williams comedy was groundbreaking and influential.
Most of the cast speaks in standard English, representing commonality of language, but one cast member uses an indefinable accent and overplays his part for laughs. Why?
in the way he speaks in a sly voice. He is the perfect actor to play

The camera is more still and focused on Jules as he intimidates the men inside whereas before when it was casual, the camera is loosely following the two down the hallway. This brings a whole new level of tension to the scene and Jules draws out what the men in the apartment know and what we as the audience know to be inevitable; that the men were going to be killed. For a lack of a better term, Jules was shooting the shit, taking bites out of the man’s burger and it really makes him seem like a confident and cool gangster, that this wasn’t his first time nor will it be his last. But he mentions something in passing as he eats the burger, that his girlfriend is a vegetarian and that by extension, he is as well. This humanizes Jules by hinting that within his relationship, outside of his work as a gangster, he has a normal life with a partner. More so, he isn’t in control of his relationship like he is of the situation at hand. We feel the tension rise as Jules delivers his speech, a verse he has taken from the bible that he recites every time before he executes someone. The verse ends with, “And I will strike down with great vengeance and furious anger, those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee” and they shoot two of the men in the apartment. The scene begins to pulse with a red glow, adding to the chaos of the scene, symbolizing almost a heartbeat stopping and eyelids closing in death. However, by chance, a man that was hiding in the bathroom pops out and unloads a clip at both Jules and Vincent but misses every single shot. Jules is convinced it was divine intervention and that his existence was deemed important enough by God to have
Just imagine, with an all star cast and a high budget set, this film can have great potential. Our leading man, David Nennius, can be played by none other than the handsome Keanu Reeves and his leading lady, Melissa, can be played by the beautiful half African American and half Caucasian, Halle Berry. The rest of the cast can include Elizabeth Hurley as David's pitiful mother, Mary, Cameron Diaz as Rachel, Robert Downey Jr. as her husband Matthew, Hugh Grant as Quinn, and special appearances by Richard Gere as William Meredith and Bruce Willis as Alasdair (Ally). Of course, we would need about ten to fifteen more extras to fill the roles of characters like Art, Grace, Emrys, David's anonymous father, and the man who gets brutally killed by David.
Many people believe Marlon Brando was the greatest actor of the 20th century. His life was filled with wonderful, interesting, but also encountered troubling times. Marlon Brando was a rebellious boy who later grew up to be known as the “world’s greatest actor.”
In doing so, he has established a signature mark. Both his films mix drama and comedy in a way that does not diminish the other. He exaggerates his characters for comedic effect but makes sure that they never crossover into being too slapstick. His films are short, around ninety minutes, and use montages to move quickly through narrative. His films contain both causal and episodic narratives. All his scenes are relatively short so his characters have lots of opportunities for different interactions. And he uses nature to reveal how a character is feeling. The way he tells a story is unique and constantly fascinating. His style and brand of humor is instantly recognizable, whether you 're watching one of his features, shorts, or advertisements. He still has the opportunity for a long career ahead of him and as he moves into more mainstream Hollywood, it will be important to see how he changes. His films may not have won any Oscars, but they have received acclaim in New Zealand and abroad. His effectiveness as a director and writer is impressive and his talent undeniable. Because he has been able to carve out this auteur identity in such a crowded industry, his films are surely worthy of study in the future. At the very least, they 'll always be highly
