This past year has been shocking, chilling and mournful. Numerous events have occurred this year, such as: the 2016 Summer Olympics, the World Series, the Orlando Nightclub Shooting, and United States presidential election of 2016. Cartoonist, Robert Ariail, decided to illustrate the World Series and the 2016 United States presidential election in his cartoon. Ariail’s cartoon demonstrates how he is comparing Chicago Cubs fans winning year to Republican and Democrat disappointing year.

The Chicago Cubs had a great beginning in Major League Baseball. The Cubs is the first baseball team to win two consecutive World Series back-to-back. The team was founded in 1870 and appeared in eleven World Series (Gregory, 50). Sadly, the team has been plagued with a curse. It has been over a century since the team won the World Series. Finally, this past year, the Cubs broke their curse and won against the Cleveland Indian in a game that lasted five hours with a rain delay and an extra ending (Martin) (HOLMES). Not only did they win the World Series, they also won the 2016 National League Championship Series, another losing streak the Cubs discontinued (Gregory, 52). Ever since the Chicago Cubs won the World Series fans has been in a frenzy. Fans across all aspects of life have been celebrating. Children, parents, and grandparents were holding one another as the team landed home and presented their long awaited trophy. First time voter, Abigail Jackson, felt as though Hillary Clinton doesn't have a real plan. She further elaborated how Hillary Clinton’s campaign focused too much time on belittling Donald Trump than on giving viewers reasons to vote for her. Another voter said he planned on voting for Trump because he cannot trust Clinton. Most of the people who are voting for Hillary are voting for her out of fear.
