It is a long-with-standing stereotype that Italians love to gamble. This is true. My great grandfather, Pasquale Giovannone, played the riskiest hand of cards when he immigrated to the United States as an illegal stowaway at the age of thirteen. He forged a life for himself amidst the ever-changing social and political shifts of the early nineteenth century. The legacy he left would later lead to the birth of my father, John Giovannone, in Northern New Jersey in 1962.
Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus was born in approximately 163 B.C.E to Tiberius Gracchus the Elder and Cornelia Africana. Gaius Gracchus, his younger brother, was born in 154 B.C.E. In the 2nd century B.C., the two brothers formed “The Gracchi”. The two, born plebeians, belonged to one of the most influential families in Rome, the Sempronia. Their father was the tribune of the plebs, the praetor, consul and censor. Fatherless from a young age, they were taught democratic views by tutors. As they grew older and gained influence, their goal became to restructure Rome in a way that benefited the underprivileged and unfortunate. At the time, their help was especially welcome as members of the Populare, a political group whose purpose was to serve the people, rather than the aristocracy (like the Optimates). The ideals of the Gracchi leaned towards what people today would call populism or socialism; in fact, they are almost reverently called “the founding fathers” (Fife 1) of the aforementioned political parties. The brothers were perhaps so interested in restoring the rights of the people because of the dichotomy of their plebeian births within a noble line.
Throughout North America there are many different archeological sites, many formed at different time periods by different tribes, though there is one that stands out among the rest of the sites, Cahokia. Cahokia stands out for many different unique reasons, one of which being that it happens to be the largest archeological site that is north of central Mexico. There are many other unique features about this site that help it stand out in addition to its size.
Irrigation has been a significant part of Yuma County’s history, as it has affected the county and areas around it in several ways, and has been affected itself by Yuma’s ways to evolve to a more relevant and helpful operation. It has changed Yuma from a small farming community to an agriculturally efficient town. Technology has also had a hand in moving irrigation in Yuma forward, including beginning the Yuma Project which affected different groups of people over time. Irrigational development also benefited geographically from Yuma, creating more fitting irrigation systems. Ultimately, the development of irrigation was affected by the attributes of Yuma, and in turn affected Yuma County and southern Arizona itself by providing technological
Yuma is a town in Southwest Arizona on the border of the California and Mexico. Going right through Yuma county is a large river called the Colorado River. With that water, farmers in Yuma and surrounding towns were starting to start farms and had irrigation. The thing was that the river was inconsistent and the farmers had problems with floods and droughts. This is how irrigation changed the complexion of Yuma and the Agricultural business.
Sir Walter Raleigh was an english explorer, writer, and poet of the 16th century. In 1584, Queen Elizabeth allowed Raleigh to colonize any unknown land in the New World. Oak Island is a small island located off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. This island holds a big mystery. According to expert Joe Nickell, Oak Island has been called ¨ the world's longest and most expensive treasure hunt.¨ It is also one of the world's deepest archeological digs. There are a lot of events that have happened on the island that have led up to what we know today. Six people have already died looking for the treasure, but the legend says seven must die before the treasure can be found. Since more is being found on the island than ever before, many people think the risk is worth the reward.
Calico was first born as an island. The man, Prince of Arabia at the time was on a vacation and while sailing around, discovered the island. Walking in the footsteps of the innocent people to explore the camps. The revolt that brought an end to Treblinka Concentration Camp.

For centuries the meaning behind leisure has inmensably changed and what was done during the free time changed as well with the new creations and the help of renovating technology. During the 1950s free time was a luxury that would be spent with family or if the person was of high class it would be spend drinking tea and gossiping with their friends. If lower class people spent their luxurious time drinking tea and gossiping they were considered Free time went from being a luxury to current time where leisure is for the public and not just a group or status. Coney Island developed overtime became not only a place for excitement, but an escape from the busy work life and problems that many lower class Americans and immigrants faced. Rugged mountains, coastal lowlands and some plains define the Italian terrain. Italy, which has 7,600 kilometers of coastline, is a peninsula since the country juts into the Mediterranean Sea. It is located south of Austria and Switzerland, and borders France and Slovenia. The capital of Italy, Rome, is located almost at the geographic middle of the country, on the Western coast.
