1-Introduction: For the last 40 years, Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia, has developed from a modest town into a metropolis with a population of around 8 million people today. The increased economic activity, as well as the increase in traffic and yet traffic congestion in the modern road networks due to the growing number of cars have generated additional delays and less road safety. Can anyone imagine that drivers spend a lot of time behind their wheels in Riyadh? Traffic jams are causing people major headaches, and some of them have left the city to find a more relaxed and less congested city. Since Riyadh is the beating heart of the country, most of the universities, colleges, ministries, hospitals and so forth are located in Riyadh. This is the leading reason why Riyadh has the heaviest traffic jams in the country in comparison to other cities like Jeddah or Dammam which have less traffic congestion and less government administrations. According to Dr. Saleh Abdulaziz Altwaijri, Riyadh has 15 municipalities [1]. 3.1 Public Transportation Services: There are various solutions to mitigate the traffic congestion in Saudi Arabia’s capital city. I believe that the provision of public transit will be very effective to the reduction of the number of cars inside the city. For instance, a metro system is a marvelous idea to organize Riyadh’s traffic. Khurais, airport, King Fahad, King Abdullah, eastern ring, southern ring and Al Olaya roads will benefit from this project. This system will not only reduce the number of vehicles inside Riyadh but will provide people the freedom to move anytime anywhere. It also will save money spent on gas and vehicle maintenance, enhance our economy and make Riyadh clean. On the other hand, building a metro system is not as easy as we might think. In big cities like Riyadh, such a system will need longer time to work on and some road closures.
