River Cohen is an astute entrepreneur, philanthropist and the founder of and CEO of Datainsure, a financial technology company. Many in the tech industry know Cohen as a pioneer integrator of intuit software into payment processing platforms targeting the retail sector. Datainsure has done a lot to develop efficient Point-of-Sale (POS) merchant services that integrate and works seamlessly with QuickBooks and mobile devices. Cohen is also the CEO of River Cohen Giving, a charitable organization dedicated to forging strong ties with lifelong partners, businesses and organizations that aim is to improve the lives of communities globally.

First, I would like to say that my commitment to business is only rivaled by my dedication to philanthropic work. I began to lay the foundation for my entrepreneurial career while studying at ASU. I have always been driven by the passion to give back to the community. This means, before making any critical decision, I must first consider the full repercussion, however small. Over the years, my spirit and endeavor to succeed has been uplifted by the many hand-written thank you notes and congratulatory messages that people give me. Every note represents a level of satisfaction in my long enduring career as a businessman and philanthropist.

Do you read a lot?
I am an avid reader who gets a lot of inspiration from reading books and articles. My selection of reading materials cuts across a host of topics, from personal development, philanthropic philosophies, business acumen to leadership. One of the most inspiring books in my shelf is titled “The Essential Drucker” written by Peter Drucker. I also believe in sharing what I learn with my staff members as this can go a long way to motivate them and move to a particular direction.

What causes do you care about?
I am a staunch promoter and supporter of various social causes such as civil rights, animal welfare, environment, health, economic empowerment and culture and arts. River Cohen Giving has done a lot for the community living in California, Arizona and elsewhere. Some of the organizations that I support include the Pollination Project, St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and Feeding
