Two Australian surfers started rip Curl in 1969, at Bells Beach. They first designed surfboards, but then soon moved into wetsuits designs. They were wetsuit ‘designed by surfers for surfers’. At the time, there was a great demand for wetsuits. In 1970 they designed a new and improved wetsuit for diving, it had under arm gussets for better movement. Some of the key design requirements that Rip Curl look to have in their designs are warmth, make sure the rider/wearer isn’t to cold, flexibility, so the rider can move quickly and unrestricted, making the wetsuit more lighter and more flexible. Tougher stitching, so the suit is more durable and worth the money, and extra strong wearing area’s such as the knees. These key design areas are what put rip curls at the top of the market.
Neoprene is one fabric that helps Rip Curl achieve their key design requirements, it is a material that is quite light, and very flexible and allows riders to move every which way. Neoprene is a rubbery fabric that has material on top for comfort. It is made up of tiny bubbles formed by nitrogen gas, heat can not pass through its cells, so the heat returns to your body, water cant pass through it also. Neoprene is a bye product of the petroleum industry. The thicker it is the warmer it will be. RD-4 is the latest in neoprene technology. IT is made up of rubber with an inner and out lining, but has a layer of titanium powder in it, so it retains all the heat from your body. The titanium is the reflective barrier in the suit. Materials such as these make it easier for Rip Curl to meet their key design requirements and better.
To make the suits more durable Rip Curl add double linings or patches where the wetsuit absorbs most f the wear and tare. For instants, Rip Curl adds pads in the knees for extra durability. They also add double linings in the arms and legs but only use a single lining in the torso because it doesn’t receive much wear. Most of Rip Curls suits are black because black attracts the sun, so it keeps the person wearing it warmer. Which again connects back to one of the key design requirements ‘warmth’. Rip curl also puts a lot of important on having good logo’s that stand out.

During the 1950’s when skateboarding first got it’s legs it was a very popular activity to take part in during vacations to ocean side tourist attractions, or as an activity after surfing. Yet, by 1965, skateboarding had diminished in popularity completely, therefore almost every skateboard manufacturer went out of business. . During this time the only people who even wanted to skateboard were surfers who needed something to ride to practice their surfing while the waves were flat. Due to the fact that there were no skateboards being made or sold, those who wanted to skate had to take it upon them-selves to manufacture their own boards. Using any kind of scrap they could find to build a usable board out of, such as metal scrap pieces or old planks. These determined surfers had to unscrew the trucks and wheels off of roller skates and attach them to the bottom of their boards. Edgar Allan Poe was born on a cold day in a lodging house in Boston, Massachusetts. It was January 19, 1809, and storming in the Boston Harbor. He was born as Edgar Poe to David Poe, Jr., and Elizabeth Arnold Hopkins Poe. They were both traveling actors. Poe’s parents split in when Edgar was one. He also had two siblings; Henry and Rosalie. The youngest was Rosalie, and the oldest was Henry, so Edgar was the middle child. In 1810, their father abandoned his family and left Elizabeth to care for the three children. Mrs. Poe then died a year later in 1811 from pulmonary tuberculosis.
Bereavement is facing the loss of a loved one. Death can be of natural or medical cause. The loss of a dear one causes a lot of grief; grieving is more psychological as it involves different types of feelings (Madison). Grieving over someone cannot be limited to a time frame; it differs for each person as reactions to grief varies considerably. The process of grief consists of several facets namely: emotional, physical, cognitive and behavioral (Barbato & Irwin, 1992; Worden, 1991; Worden, 2009).
Death is an unavoidable event that will eventually happen to everyone. Some days may be easier than others and life may feel like it has returned to normal and other days, we feel helpless. (Johnson, 2007) Dealing with the loss of someone never gets easier. Facing painful memories, confusion, heartache, and loneliness are all common reactions when it comes to loss. There is no right or wrong way of dealing with grief. Some feel the need to take it out on others, drink the pain away, or just simply wanting to be left alone. (Huffman, 2012) Those are only part of a short list of possible coping tactics. It all depends on the person and the loss they are going through that sends the griever down different roads trying to reach acceptance. Also, everyone has a different attitude towards death. Some accept the fact that people do not live forever and someday we all will die. Whether its old age, a car accident, suicide, or the misfortunes of being killed are all life ending possibilities. Some believe there is no life after death or that once a living thing dies; it cannot be brought back to life. All of these examples will be based off of the environment in which one has grown up in. This garment revolutionized the swimwear industry.This is a garment well known today as having two separate pieces exposing the mid section. It is believed that because of wartimes, to save money, the government decided to cut back on fabric production, thus the bikini was born.
Research can be quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative research is objective and involves measuring the phenomena under investigation. Qualitative research is subjective, explores experiences and feelings, and involves the recording of phenomena that cannot easily be quantified (Toates, 2010, pp. 5-6). Both are empirical since they involve data collection (OU, n.d.).
Alice Elliott Dark’s fictional story “Rumm Road, ” discusses the influence that one citizen could potentially have on an entire community. Dark’s story talks about a group of girls who all happens to be involved in a conflict down on Rumm Road, which is “one in the richest streets in town.” (Dark 3). The narrator and her friends didn’t pay much mind to these girls due to the conflict didn’t directly affect their neighborhood, until it is discovered that one of these girls originated from their community. Dark’s story “Rumm Road” ultimately takes a position on the responsibility of being a citizen. The position that the story takes is that the responsibility of being a citizen is to be more involved and aware with their society. As for this story, it shows how the characters aren’t following their responsibilities until a critical event happens and awakens them to be more involved and aware. This awakening allows the characters to take forth the responsibilities a citizen should have. Dark uses of pronouns in her writing, awareness of the characters, assumption among the characters, and implanting feelings in the characters, she is able to state how citizens in general should be more aware and involved in their society and carry out that as their responsibilities.
William Worden (1996) explains that grieving is the adaption to a loss. After researching Worden’s theory it is my understanding that there are four tasks a person must achieve in order for the process of mourning to be concluded and the “equilibrium to be re-established” (Worden,1996). In his theory, Worden clarifies that the tasks are in no particular order. Worden also recognizes that some individuals may have to revisit certain tasks over time, that grief is a personal experience, and that it is difficult to regulate a time frame for completing the grief tasks.
