I read the article titled Alcohol and driving posted by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation which was about the effects that alcohol can have on your driving ability and things that you can do to prevent drinking too much or prevent yourself from driving when you have had too much to drink. The overall message to prevent alcohol related car accidents was created by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation located in Australia. The intended audience for this article would be the general public as it informs of preventative measures involved in drinking and driving and it could also aim to inform people who drink regularly as to encourage them to think about what they need to do before they consume a large amount of alcohol. Logos is evident through the facts listed throughout the article such as, “On average, the liver breaks down a little less than one standard drink per hour.” This quote tells the audience the amount of alcohol that your liver can break down per hour, which helps the reader understand how they should pace themselves while consuming alcohol. As for pathos present in this article, I could not locate any examples of it because this article is based on facts and few statistics to get the point across and take preventative measures. The individuals that are not discussed in this article are the people who have been affected by drinking and driving. This resource would be good to use if you were researching the impact that alcohol can have on your driving ability and things to consider if you want to drive safely when alcohol is around. This article was more on the informative side so personal stories and accounts were not present which could have made this article connect with more people on personal level and bring reality to the information they were discussing. The following statement in the article provides the kind of information that the article consisted of “Alcohol is a depressant drug. It slows the activity of the central nervous system, including the brain. This can have a huge impact on your ability to drive safely.” This quote explains what alcohol actually does to your body and why it is so dangerous to perform activities, such as driving, with alcohol in your system. This website was a good source for basic information about the effects alcohol has on your system and the precaution you should take before drinking and driving. It would be a good resource to use for just gaining some minimal knowledge on the subject but I think more detailed sources could be used to provide more
