As an Activist, Martin Luther King Jr. tried many things to end racism. This speech was one of them. He states that even though, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation there is still racism and discrimination. He explains his dream of having a peaceful movement, ending racism, and no discrimination because of the color of your skin. Not only was he stating the discrimination towards colored people but others as well. For example, he states that not everyone that is white is racist. Then he points out that there are white brothers and sisters standing with them in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. His words touched many hearts as they were trying to fight against discrimination and racism.
