The obvious benefits are areas of academic enhancement. Particularly, language arts areas include story grammar, comprehension, identification of sight words, acquisition of vocabulary, and general reading skills. Mostly positive results were found for both short- and long-term cross-age peer tutoring. However, although some benefits of cross-age peer tutoring are not necessarily considered “academic”, they are nevertheless important for a child with moderate cognitive disability and for children without cognitive disabilities. The cross-age peer tutoring model appears functional for all students involved.
Presentations, class discussions and other ways that students can prove that they are comprehending the presented knowledge is important and should be noted. I am quite passionate about my content area, teaching allows me to communicate and share that knowledge with my students. Social studies cover so many areas: history, political science and the social sciences. I find each of these areas to be quite fascinating as well as lessons and skills that the students learn in these classes that they will use in the rest of their lives. The challenge and reward that comes from understanding the cognitive level of adolescent students is what makes me prefer working on the secondary level.
It is common for many schools and universities to assess their students and test their knowledge through examinations, this method has several benefits which can affect students’ progress throughout their academic studies, and one of the educational benefits is that it is an easy tool to assess students and test their capability. Furthermore, Exams help students to convey a progress in their knowledge because they are usually provided with feedback after writing an exam which can help them acknowledge their flaws and improve them. Another advantage is that exams endorse competitiveness between students; therefore, they work harder to improve their knowledge and skills. Time management is also important, excellent students are usually good at managing their time by setting goals and following a specific plan to achieve these goals.
It is necessary for the counsellor to consider the client’s personal context and the level of the client’s understanding of the results and what the results may implicate. When interpreting the assessment instrument results, counsellors have to take note if the client is ready to know the results. The counsellor would have to interpret the results and break it down in simpler terms for the client in a language that the client can fully understand. Counsellors have to consider the client’s welfare and understanding prior to interpreting the results to them.
Theoretical orientation was primarily reflective of the works of Carl Rogers, Karen Horney, William Glasser, Alfred Adler and many more theories. An important aspect of my theoretical position is that persons define reality based on their life experiences. It is this personal perception of reality, which governs behavior independent of the facts as others see them. Perceptions of reality are based upon the persons' view of themselves, the world in which they live, and the meanings events have for them. Everything a person does is reasonable and necessary at the time the person is doing it.
Love is an important matter in our life because it motivates us in different ways. Love can be shown through emotions or even through actions. What is a valuable definition of love? A brief definition of love can be said to be a variety of different feelings or attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection to pleasure. In other words, to me love is when two people share the same inner feelings such as emotional and physical attraction to one another.
The facts include cause and effect, lists, problems and solutions, sequence of events, and descriptions (Expository Text Structures, n.d.). Most school systems provide expository texts to be used in the classroom and teachers are comfortable using them. Due to the vast amount of accurate information that is found in expository text, they can be of great benefit to the content area classroom. Teachers use the text in the middle school levels to provide students with more accurate information. With the pressures of standardized testing, time is of the essence in these grades.
Empathy – This is about as to how you build up the relationship with your client that he knows his feelings can be shared with and confident of your input for his recovery. Attending & Listening - when the client feels the there is some one here to listen to; he would like to share his feelings and thoughts which creates a strong relationship. Open- You have to be an open minded and prepare to share everything in relation to the matter you are dealing with. Professionalism – a professional approach to the matter points out the client of your subject knowledge, education and experience and that leads the client to admire of your ideas Genuine - Being genuine to the matter and the client would always develop the strong relationship.
This strategy is not only authentic, but also motivates the student in a variety of ways, academically and socially. When appropriate, let the English Learner choose the text. Allowing students to make even minimal choices increases learning from the task and enhances subsequent interest in the activity (Gambrell, 2009). Worthy and McKool (1996) found that allowing students to make choices about their reading material increased the likelihood that they would engage more in reading. A read-aloud is a great way to model reading strategies and behaviors (Gambrell, 2009).
