Discussion Board 12 Throughout this course we have covered multiple topics that have advanced our knowledge about leaders and what characteristics they possess. The course has demonstrated different point of views based on Christian living that has given each of us the push we need to lead and or execute leadership skills. The five topics we as a group felt was most important this term are: growth, self-care, shepherd my sheep, wisdom and integrity. Each member has viewed each topic as they relate to organizational management and leadership. A Resilient Leader is wise leaders who “wait upon the Lord.”
Growth
Robert Dees discusses a number of topics in the assigned text Resilient Leaders. In chapter 4 he covers the topic growth and the importance of a leader’s personal growth (Dees, 175). Dees (2013) stated that, “wisdom is the highly sought quality that bridges between character and competence, that moves us from theory to practice, that makes the difference between success and folly” (p. 112). Leaders can possess all the essential attributes to make a successful leader. However, without the ability to discern right from wrong, successful leadership cannot be achieved. Solomon in all his greatness when asked by God, “what shall I give you”, responded “give to your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil (Kings 3:5, 9 NKJV). One of the ways that wisdom can relate to organizational management and leadership is that as a leader you need to be able to discern right from wrong.
