They were very rich and coincidentally goes to the same school as the The oldest princesses (Mary) youngest sister (Skyla). The soldier (John) and his wife (Mary) were having money problems. Rumpelstiltskin on the other hand is using the suitors minions as bodyguards. He was also having problems with money.
