Space, a mysterious place, the moon, a curious place that mankind wonders about day by day. In the 1960’s and early 1970’s the United States sent a team of three to the moon for the very first time. The crew consisted was: Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Out of the three, Neil Armstrong was the first to step foot on the moon (Journal of American History 609). The name of the mission to the moon was called “Apollo 11” this mission took place on July 1969 (Beall, Jeffrey 122). Space is an unexplored place, there are still people trying to discover more than they already know. Curtin people were doubting the mission, some people b the U.S. flag looked like it was flapping in the wind, but the moon does not have an atmosphere (Mashing Moon Myths 505).
Moon Landings
People are still arguing if the moon landing in 1969 was real or faked by the United States Of America. Some people think it was faked and if they are true this would be very embarrassing to America and NASA. Some think it was real because of some of the evidence they brought back supposedly from the moon's surface but this is my opinion.
I think the moon in landing in 1969 was real because of the rocks they got from the moon's surface and also because with a satellite image of the moon they say an image of tire marks on the surface.
The moon is very slowly drifting away from the earth. Currently, it is at a distance of approximately 239,000 miles away from the planet's surface and receding at a miniscule, but steady rate. However, "if one multiplies this recession speed by the presumed evolutionary age, the moon would be much farther away from the earth than it is, even if it had started from the earth. It could not have been receding for anything like the age demanded by the doctrine of evolution." (Barnes) Furthermore, even if the moon had started much closer to the ea...
...ese studies, some people still believe in the pseudoscience of lunar effect. Some cherry pick the data that can’t be replicated to prove their point, to hold on to an idea they believe true. An idea that is based on ancient traditions, old folklore, and myths. Maybe they just want an excuse to act a little crazy or they feel like they don’t have control and need to find something, anything to place this loss of control on, or they believe whatever they hear and see. But the truth is there is no lunar madness, it is a pseudoscience. It is false science, backed by, Appeals to ancient, or natural, wisdom, Single, or isolated, group conducting research, new laws of nature are invented to explain observations, all signs of pseudoscience. All you need is a little science and critical thinking to see what is really is true, and most likely it is the simplest explanation.
Lunar sunrise and sunset rays are a rare phenomenon which occurs when shafts of sunlight shine through gaps in crater walls and mountains to cast a spike of light across a dark crater floor. They happen infrequently and only during sunrise and sunset when there is a very low angle of sunlight. The rays can range from thin slivers of light to triangular patches of illumination. They differ from lunar rays where debris from impact craters is strewn across the face of the Moon.
It is clear in my religion – Islam – that whatever is mentioned in Qur’an (The Holy Book) must be correct. Even if it is unbelievable these days, it will be a fact in the future. That because we – Muslims – believe that Qur’an was written by Allah (God), and he, undoubtedly, knows everything in the universe because he created it. At the current moment, you may be thinking about some facts that are mentioned in Qur’an, don’t hie. I will go through some facts that might make you think about them for the whole year. Let’s start from the moon. It is written in Qur’an 1400 years ago that the moon was bisected into two parts and they were joined together again. Believe it or not, recently, NASA discovered that miraculous fact and they called it The Lunar Rill. In the moon also, Qur’an tells us that the moon was converted many times until it became like the old died trunk, which means there is no water on it. As scientists says, no life without water. So, we can infer that there is no life on the moon, as astronomy stated last century. It deserves an hour of thinking about it, doesn’t it?
The surface of the moon is scarred with millions of impact craters. There is no atmosphere on the moon to help protect it from bombardment from potential impactors (most objects from space burn up in the Earth's atmosphere). Also, there is no erosion (wind or water) and little geologic activity to wear away these craters, so they remain unchanged until another new impact changes it. These craters range in size up to many hundreds of kilometers, but the most enormous craters have been flooded by lava, and only parts of the outline are visible. The total area of the moon is 37 930 000 square kilometers.
The events leading up to the Apollo moon landings are some of the most exiting events in American history. In many opinions, the moon landing is one of America’s greatest accomplishments. Three astronauts rode a rocket the size of an average skyscraper to conduct the most exiting mission into space yet. A mission that took a decade to prepare. Before the Apollo program there was project Gemini, and before Gemini there was mercury. A 1-2-3 progression in size. Mercury sent up 1 man, Gemini 2, and Apollo 3.
A cash reward of $100,000 was offered to anyone who could prove, with conclusive physical evidence, the existence of the moon. This reward still remains unclaimed ("The Moon-The Real Truth"). After all, how does one know for sure the moon even exists? Even if it does exist, how does one prove it? That's what NASA set out to do in the late 1960's.
The American Apollo program to land on the moon was largely successful in achieving its scientific mission objectives. The only blemishes on it would be the fire that destroyed Apollo 1, and the emergency that forced Apollo 13 to abort the moon landing mission and return to Earth earlier than expected. The aim of this paper is to exam what caused the emergency on Apollo 13 followed by how NASA examined and created a solution for this mission, and how this unexpected emergency made future space faring vehicles relatively safer once in space.
