The Moon. One of worlds greatest mysteries of how it was formed, or is it? There are numerous theories on how the Moon was formed. The moon could have at one point, been a part of Earth. There are countless theories with excellent reasoning behind them, but they also have flaws. Some theories make total sense and then there's a reason that contradicts it. The Moon is 238,900 mi away, and Scientist still don't know how the moon is formed. Will the formation of the Moon ever be solved, the world may never know. No one has found a theory of how the moon was made, or at least not yet. Here are some interesting heories of how the Moon was formed. "The Capture theory" is the theory of when there was an asteroid. When the asteroid was too close to Earth, Earths gravity pulled in the asteroid, thus becoming the Moon. Scientist believe that this formation happen to every planet that has a Moon. On the other hand, the contradiction is that is it were really an asteroid, it would have the shape more like a potato than a sphere. The Moon Earth is round like a sphere so that doesn't make sense. This theory is the about how the moon was once a part of earth. This is about when the earth spun so fast that an actual piece of the earth flew off and therefore forming the moon. There is no actual known reason why the earth would be spinning so fast. This theory was that because of how similar the earth and the moon are. That if the earth was spinning so fast that a chunk flew off, that it's layers fell off with them. What contradicts the statement is that if there was a piece of the earth that fell inform the moon, the nurse should at least have been some fossil evidence.
