Black History Essay George Washington Carver George was an African-American male born into slavery. The farm he was from was owned by Moses Carver. Moses’s farm was in Diamond, Missouri. His date of birth is unknown. It is likely that he was born in January or June of 1864. George applied to the Highland Presbyterian College in Kansas. His college was impressed by George’s application and granted him a full scholarship. When he went to the college they turned him away. This was because he was black. They did not accept him because of his race. Carver invented over 300 peanut products including peanut oil to lead into motor oils to gasoline. If it wasn’t for carver we would be walking pretty much. He was also a great agricultural chemist. His chemistry skills played a HUGE roll in all of his creations with the peanut. His knowledge of chemical bonding led to the peanut oils and motor oils we have today. …show more content…

His dad got married to george’s mom and they had two children. His dad’s name was Giles and his mom’s name was Mary. George had a brother named James jim carver. James’s birth year was 1859 and death date was unknown.
I choose George washington carver because I enjoy agriculture and using the earth as a resource. Also george died on January 5th 1943. George also made a book called The pickling and curing of meat in hot weather. His education was Iowa State University. George Washington Carver was an african american botanist.
