Ferdinand Magellan was a Portuguese explorer, Navigator and colonists. And he was the first one who organized the circumnavigation trip of the Earth from Spain, but he is not the one who completes the trip Juan Sebastián Elcano is the one who completes the trip. Ferdinand Magellan was born in 1480 in Portugal, Porto from a Paladin family. When Ferdinand where 10 years old and his parent were dead, he became a servant of Queen Leonor at the Portugal’s royal family and work for the royal because of his family. And when he is 16 he become a one of the national maritime office. When he is 25 years old, he enlisted the trip that Francisco de Almeida, who was the first viceroy of Portuguese India, was going. In 1515 Magellan told his travel plan to the king of Portugal and the king rejected him and his plan. So he Give up the Portuguese nationality and go to Spain to ask the king if he can give him a chance and support him to travel around the world. And the King Charles V (the king of Spain) responds he that he can travel around the world and Spanish maritime office will help on this trip. The first person to ever complete the journey across the world was Magellan’s slave, Enrique. Enrique was born in the Visayans and was sold into slavery in Sumatra. When he was sent to Malacca, Magellan “acquired” him. Magellan took Enrique with him on his westward journey to the Spice Islands. Eighteen months into this voyage they landed on Limasawa, where Enrique heard people talking in his native language. When he approached them, they welcomed him. He also proved that the world truly is round and debunked all tales of it being flat (though many people didn’t even think the world was flat and acknowledged that is was round). From the things he earned in Hispaniola he set a goal to find an island that is know as present day Puerto Rico were he had heard rumors from the Indians that there was gold buried there and also that it was a rich island. So he lead an expedition and he worked his magic on this island were he stayed, built a stone mansion and stayed for many years then returned to Hispaniola. The trouble that had started in 1509 had caused Juan Ponce de Leon many problems because of the Spanish monarchy and its politics. This problem would cause him to move away from the land of the Indies where he had great success.
