William E. Boeing’s vision was first inspired after riding in a Curtiss aircraft. He was overjoyed with his experience and bought his own airplane. Although soon after he crashed it. Once he learned replacement parts would not be available for months, he decided to build his own with the help of George Conrad Westervelt. This idea ended up leading to the incorporation of the Pacific Aero Products on July 15, 1916 (Executive). Just a couple years later the company changed its name to the Boeing Company and would become the world’s leader in manufacturing airplanes, rotorcrafts, and space and security systems. Similar to how airplanes connect the world, Boeing has reached its success due in large part of its globalization. Through the process of acquisition, mergers, and strategic partnerships, Boeing has expanded its presence internationally. For example, due to their expertise Boeing partnered with General Electrics in the United States and Rolls-Royce in the United Kingdom to help supply a more fuel efficient engine. This technology alone contributed to an increase of almost 8% in fuel efficient of the 787 Dreamliner (Boeing 787). The 787 Dreamliner’s wings are supplied a Japanese company, Mitsubishi, who’s subsidiary is well versed in aviation design (Boeing 787). Once the components are completed they are then sent to one of four intermediate locations in Asia, Europe, and the United States, based on their original components manufacturing location and where the parts correspond in terms of the section of the aircraft (building). These partner locations assemble and complete major sections of the aircraft. Upon completion these sections are shipped to Boeing’s facility in Everett, where the airplanes are finally assembled and tested
