Aaliyah was an amazing singer and actress whose music still carries on until this day. Aaliyah won her first stage role in the first grade. At that moment she realized that she wanted to be in show business. Later, Aaliyah was enrolled into a Detroit High School for fine and performing arts. Detroit high was actually a new school built for students serious about entertainment careers. To Aaliyah her grades were way more important than her career. For weeks Aaliyah performed in shows, doing duets with her aunt. This allowed her to get a taste of show business. Aaliyah was only 15 when her recording career began; she was still in school. Her uncle, Barry Hankerson, had his own label record which was named Blackground Records. Her uncle made an arrangement for her to work with the hot r&b star, R. Kelly. Kelly wrote and produced all the songs for Aaliyah’s first album. It was then released in 1994, called “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number.”
