YouTube has been a game changer for video media. It was not necessarily entirely different but it rose to success because of it’s simplicity, marketing, and user friendliness (Oliver Reichstein). YouTube is a social media website supplying a place for entertainers to share their craft or for any individual to share any small aspect of their life. Many people use YouTube as a full time job some make over a million dollars a year. YouTube has supplied jobs to entertainers as well as those who run the company itself. YouTube is an entertainment source so it has the ability to affect it’s viewers. YouTube currently has a large community of people who pay to advertise on their site as well as people who use YouTube videos to advertise. YouTube has also had a significant impact on the film industry.
It used to be the majority advertisements were seen on TV(Arandilla, Rachel). Now it appears the World Wide Web is the most effective (Arandilla, Rachel). Ads appear as pre video ads skippable after a few seconds, banners on the side of the page and at the bottom of the video, and some in the form of YouTube videos (Arandilla, Rachel). According Rachel Arandilla’s Youtube and the Impact of Viral Marketing she says, “Its main objective is to increase brand awareness through replicating a viral like process, like the spread of virus in computers. Often, viral videos are spread through sharing by viewers, kinda like word of mouth. Viral marketing often comes in the form of videos. The main goal is to create infectious, viral messages that appeal to their target market with high SNP (social networking potential) that can easily spread through individuals.” According to Rachel Arandilla the first truly viral video was Numa Numa a video of Gary ...

YouTube is above all things a video sharing website. In some cases this means music videos or small scale productions.

YouTube has impacted people and the way we view fame. Many people find YouTube a home for their creative outlet. YouTube has impacted people from the communities of film to music and especially the viewers that continue to give YouTube traffic today.
