1. Introduction
1.1 Definition and Description
An event manager/planner is someone who plans, executes and evaluates a corporate, association, non-profit, government or social event such as a wedding, important business meeting, fundraiser, promotion, fair, conference, festival or party.
They are in charge of researching markets, making detailed proposals of timelines, venues, suppliers, staffing and budgets as well as securing and organising speakers, guests, tickets, parking, security, first aid and equipment hire. Other roles event managers/planners have usually extend up until and then after the event where they have to oversee the removal of the event (such as rubbish collect, stage dismantling) and post-event evaluation.
1.2 Aims
To explain to peers/teachers what a career as an event manager/planner entails and the roles, qualifications, skills, salary, prospects and opportunities they have. The aim is also to briefly explain the history.

2.1 History
Event management and planning as an industry is relatively new, it has only become popular in the last two decades and before that the job was not taken very seriously. Event planning in general though has been around for hundreds of years – from Alexander the Great’s royal wedding to William and Kate’s. In 1999 there were approximately only 33,000 meeting planners and by 2012 that figure had more than doubled.
Events management came from within the discipline of public relations when it was necessary to have people with special talents to manage activities that organizations used to gain publicity and build their corporate image. 4. Recommendations
It is recommended that to be an event manager/planner you should be able to deal with lots of stress and being put on time restrictions. You must also be able to deal with frazzled and rude clients respectfully and without lashing out. If you can not work long hours and commit to working overtime then this job may not be acceptable for you.

Most people that work in theatre have a pretty good idea of what a stage manager does during rehearsals - at least, the things that can be seen. We take blocking notes, cue lines, keep track of the time, coordinate presets and scene changes, answer the questions, and solve the problems. Yet, there are so many things a stage manager does, so many balls constantly being juggled, that many elements of the stage manager’s job go unnoticed. So, in honor of the unseen, here is a sampling of some tasks a stage manager completes before rehearsal. Early in our morning, we check our phone.

As an SAEM major, attending live events in sports, arts, or entertainment, your mindset becomes more in tune with the process of how the event is run. Whether it's the productions crew, ushers, coach, or main act, you become more aware of the tasks each individual has in running the show/event. As many average spectators are in attendance for the main event, we know there is much more behind it with many crucial jobs to make the event a success.

Therefore, you tend to see that many consumers generally base their decisions and choices on if they have utilized the services previously, does the company have a great reputation, is the company known for exceptional services and events, and does other consumers speak highly about the business. All these factors contribute to how well a company excels over its competitors in the market. Moreover, these attributes and qualities brings forth and bridge brand loyalty among its consumers and potential consumers looking for quality services and companies within the event planning business and causes many event planning businesses to stand out and reign supreme over others. From business conferences to weddings, there are events going on all around us, and where there are events there are event planners constructing it, putting it all together, while making everything run effectively. Event planning is always unpredictable and you need to be always ready for any problematic situation that may occur. When starting out there is a great chance that problems will occur that one will not prepared to face, but this is all a part of the improvement process. The first strength I would bring to the event planning industry is my ability to budget and manage money. With my personal finances, I am very strict about my spending habits, and I am constantly trying to find ways to save money. For example, I spent hours this past weekend researching the best deals on kitchen supplies for my house next fall. I made a spreadsheet of all of my options that fit the perfect balance between price and quality along with dozens of promo codes that could apply, and it quite literally paid off.
