In the fictional book The Sowing by K. Makansi, Remy the main charter is part of a resistance outside the boundaries of the Okarian sector in which they all once lived in before they left to get out of the rule of Corine Orlean. They moved out of the sector when the ruler of the sector, Corine Orlean paid someone to cold bloodedly murder a science teacher named Mr. Hawthorne and his entire class because Hawthorne held important information about hybrid seeds that could boost one's abilities. Ever since that tragedy Remy, Eli, Soren, and Kenzie have worked together, as a team, to unravel the mystery Hawthorne left before Corine does. For example, at the beginning of the book Makansi writes about them watching TV, “I wonder if those on the screen, smiling out at the cameras, are thinking of us, remembering us like we remember them” (9). This talking about thoughts of the past while watching a TV bored me because it didn’t have any action. When they did this the action elevated from there because the sector got mad at them, this I thought was a good way to start the rivalry of the two groups. I was most impressed by makansi well planned way of writing where every thing that happens is a significance in the book and without it the book would be incomplete. Makansi made it obvious to me that her target audience was teens because of the sedom use of vulgar language and detail of action and gore. For example, in class we were assigned to write and illustrate a book that was targeted toward elementary schoolers, I did this by adding pictures and having a strong moral to the story, it was obvious that Makansi wanted teens to read her book from the detailed action. I thought that this book was well written and should be purchased to the school library for others to read as
