A number of religious sects flourish around the world and cover an extraordinary range of rules and philosophies. Whether we are waiting for the grim reaper with his scythe, or following the light into heaven, all of us are hoping what we believe is the true and bona fide religion. Many people, including myself, often ponder which sincere religion is to believe in and often we base that decision on a belief that gives that provides us hope during life and after death. How can we get into the pearly gates of heaven or stay out of the fiery depths of hell? Growing up as a Seventh Day Adventist myself and then having my kids grow up learning Catholicism often makes me question if I truly do have any faith whatsoever. When one dies, they simply are buried, done. Even if they die without sin and being a good practicing Adventist, they will remain decomposing till the day Christ comes and resurrects them according to Revelations. Now that may seem unrefined and does seem like we all rise up similarly to the zombie apocalypse. According to the Adventist belief, the redeemed inhabitants of the new earth will be physical beings with bodies similar to Christ after he rose from the dead (248 Gane). You will not be anything like a zombie but more like pure and sparkly rainbow pony and you get to spend eternity in the ever so glorious heaven. It is always painted as a place with streets made of pure gold and diamond mansions with no beep bopping car noise or drunks yelling in front of your house. Nobody steals or hurts you in heaven. Truly a lovely unpolluted place to be but you just have to wait a very long time to get there while you just lie oblivious in the cold unforgiving earth until God comes around in his second coming to fetch you. But if you are a wicked Adventist, you will be raised from the dead and final judgment will be placed upon you by God (Holy Revelations 20:7-15). In all sense, the evil folk get purged and seared in a consuming fire for eternity. Not so nice, is it? Especially if you are joining your mortal enemy from earth. Most evil souls, must go first to purgatory to be cleansed of their earthly sins (30 Williams). I say most, because some sins can be forgiven by your neighborhood priest like lying or not listening to your mom and dad, called venial sins. But if you do something really evil, a mortal sin that cannot be forgiven by the God almighty then your soul is expected to get a one way ticket to hell. Some other sins can be re-evaluated while you do not pass go in purgatory where your soul wait in a place similar to a torture chamber awaiting God’s forgiveness if he ever decides to do so. The belief is that you can spend eternity in purgatory. That would truly suck flames
