Babies is a Documentary produced by Thomas Balmes who originally got the idea from Alain Chabat. It is set in the present time in four different countries and four very different settings. These babies are documented from birth to just after one year and shows four different perspectives of how different cultures raise their children. From a tribe in Nambia, a remote location in Mongolia, a large city in Japan, to San Francisco California; babies is based on the common theme of human discovery, interaction, and love.
The director is a father of three and a native of France. He filmed Babies over a two year time frame submerging himself into the lives of the four families who let him witness their babies spectacular first year. Nothing in the movie was scripted or rehearsed, just raw natural footage from his camera capturing life’s greatest miracle, the diversity of human beings, and the different environments these babies grow up in. Thomas was able to witness miracles that he could have never scripted, and through his camera he was able to share them with the audience.
Unless you despise babies or children, there is a huge audience for this movie. The intended audience is not just those who have fostered a child, but those who are interested in what it means to be a human, discover new things, and witness miracle after miracle. Thomas made the documentary without a narrator, without subtitles, and without interference, letting the images he filmed sp...

We all experience life differently and we never have two of the same outcomes. All over the world you may never realize how someone else is born, raised, and cared for. No two mothers care for the children the same and this causes many different outcomes with the human race. Today I’m going to compare four different babies and how they were brought into this world. Ranging from one side of the earth to the other you will see how drastically different these children are and also how similar they may be as well. There are many aspects of these children’s lives that are comparable, but the ones that stand out the most are how these children were born, how much interaction they had with their families and the environment that they live in. Now let me take you into the lives of four very unique children including: Mari from Japan, Hattie from the United States, Ponijao from Namibia, and Bayar from Mongolia.
That little girl had a light in her that just wanted me to reach through the screen and hug her. No wonder she was “daddy’s girl”. It truly shows the resilience of children. If all this enthusiasm can come out of one child just from gardening; sign me up. It is another strong aspect of this film. Most documentaries about high poverty areas using focus on the adults. This one added a surprise element in Quimonie. She is the smallest person in the movie, however, she was the biggest in character and
Possible video description for review: This week, join Bobby and Sherry Burnette deep in the mountains of Savaan Pit, Haiti, a place where many poor children are unable to read or write. Love A Child’s Child Sponsorship Program gives these precious children a new life, outside of poverty. Hear the story of Montania, a little girl who dreams of learning how to write her name. And watch as Bobby and Sherry visit a Love A Child school to deliver special gifts of Boys’ and Girls’ Packs to children from their sponsors.
Babies is a 2010 French film, by Thomas Balmes, that follows four babies from birth to their first steps around the world. Two of the babies are from rural areas: Panijao from Opuwo, Namibia, and Bayarjargal from Bayanchandmani, Mongolia. The other two babies are from urban areas: Mari from Tokyo, Japan, and Hattie from San Francisco, United States. This documentary is different because the whole film is from the babies perceptive. Everything that is shot is at the babies level. There is very little dialogue throughout this film. The focus is not on the parents at all. You will see the parent’s faces through out the film. But mostly all you see is nipples, arms, hands and their chest. You see the parts the baby tends to have the most interest
The beginning of the documentary took me by surprise because I did not know what to expect. However, as I continued to observe I quickly realized the point of the movie and how it would apply to the Life Span and Life Course Theories. In the following paragraphs, I will explain in my opinion, which life stages are represented and how might the stages affect the children in the future.
Hattie and Bayar are in different cultures and don’t treated the same. Bayar’s mom leaves him alone while Hattie is never left alone. Each of the cultures in this video are different but some have similarities and others would never do that but to them it’s the way of life and they are doing what they can to make this baby grow big and strong. Each culture has their ups and downs with the babies but all of them are loved by their moms and have a bright future to grow up and learn how to develop all their skills and make who they are. All babies are different and are each special in their own ways they may grow in different environments but are each their own person and no matter if one grows in a better environment or not all 4 of these babies are different clean baby or dirty baby poverty or rich they all grow the same and each develop valuable skills that will last them for ever. I have realised how much babies in different areas have such a different view on how they raise their children and their living conditions or even how they treat the child from ignoring it to giving it all their
The French documentary Babies shows the first year of development of four different babies who live in four completely different environments. The film follows Ponijao, a little girl from Namibia, Bayar, a little boy from Mongolia, Mari, a girl from Tokyo, and Hattie, a girl from San Francisco. Even though the babies live in very dissimilar parts of the world, their physical, cognitive, and social development seem to all follow a set pattern. On the other hand, the babies learn to do some activities distinctive to their environment by watching their parents and siblings. Therefore, Babies provides evidence to support both the nature and nurture sides of the debate.
In "Desiree's Baby" by Kate Chopin, the author begins the story by describing how Desiree had been found as a child by her adoptive parents. Her biological mother and father were unknown and her origin was never discovered. This obscurity allows the reader to infer that perhaps she's of mixed race and that's why her baby did not appear white. Her husband Armand Aubigny becomes hostile towards her when he notices the baby did not appear white. He makes her feel miserable about not being white even though she tells him that her eyes were grey and her skin was white. He points out that she was as white as one of his slaves who could also have been of mixed heritage. Armand stops treating her with respect and this causes Desiree to go get her son
The nonfiction book I read was titled Beautiful Child and was written by Torey Hayden. Beautiful Child follows the life of a special education teacher who is new to a school is met with a challenging class consisting of five children, all with very different needs. The class consists of a child who has tourette’s syndrome (Jesse), a child who we later find out has dyslexia (Billy), two twins who have fetal alcohol syndrome (Shane and Zane), and a young girl who is selectively mute (Venus.) Although through the story we see each child grow and progress, Venus is the main character and we see her open up to Torey through books and most important She-Ra comics. As Venus’ story unfolds, so do the horrendous details of her family that include a past of drug abuse and prostitution. The quietness of Venus that left many confused, begins to make
The Unwanted Child Bradley and Alexis lived in a little culta-sac inside a suburban town called Springsdale. The couple had been married for twelve years and had two children, a boy and a girl. Alexis was your average stay at home mom that took care of her home and was also a room-mother at her children's local school. Bradley worked hard to support his family and give them the best life that he could. The couple was very happy and living the American dream; nice house with the white picket fence, nice vehicles, and seemed to be madly in love with each other.
It is always a joy when a child is born. The moment their little hands touch yours is truly a wonderful feeling. Because babies need extra special care and attention, having to part with them is difficult, even for a few minutes. You must keep watch of them at all times. With this need, the invention of baby monitors came. Now, you can keep your baby a step closer when you are away.
It can be frightening to plan for first baby. We know every woman is unique in herself and so as her pregnancy. This creates more confusion to those women who exactly want to know what to expect in their first pregnancy. There are many women who believe that birth is intended to happen easily but they need to know that the standard pregnancy care is not based on some facts or evidence and therefore it is necessary to know some facts that every expecting mother should know.
Stage one begins when the baby is a newborn to 18 months. During this stage an infants basic needs must to be met by their caregiver in order for them to learn trust. They need to trust that their caregiver is going to feed them and care for them regularly. Consistency from their caregiver is important during this stage in order for them to move on to the next development stage with confidence. This stage is very significant because this is when the baby is first learning to trust the world in situations that are beyond their control. Their needs to be a balance in this stage where they also learn to mistrust so that they are aware that there are aspects in this world that they should not trust. The way they learn mistrust in this stage needs
A baby brings new beginning to life, a new chapter to open but when you are young, they can be a struggle. Despite the fact that having a baby is a beautiful thing in life, having a baby at a young age can ruin your life. Teen pregnancy seems to be a big problem all around the world, but also in our city too. When being consider one of the highest city in Arizona for teen pregnancy that’s when you know it’s a big problem. Not only are those kids ruining their life by not finishing school and stop their future to raise their child, their also ruining others people life around them. Babies are very expensive, with all the clothing they need and the food, some parents don’t have the money or even a job to prove for their kids and
Overall, "Children" is a great film, which excels in all aspects, with the sole exception of the last part, which actually deprives it of the masterpiece status. It is also a good chance for the spectator to discover a case that shocked the country for more than a
