Collaborative professional development helps teachers acquire new skills where they establish positive relationships with other educators. It is very critical for all schools to implement collaborative professional developments because teachers learn to respect each other’s ideas, work collaborative, and learn new skills that will definitely make a difference in student learning. Implementing collaborative professional development in schools is very important and beneficial for teachers because it affects student learning in many positive ways. One of the areas or practice that I think needs researching includes obtaining reliable and valid predictors of future student achievement which reflects an accurate measure of change over time. With this, I can revise my lesson plans and classroom curriculum accordingly and move along with student achievement as it progresses locally as well as across the country. I can also study the revisions made to standards and practices as well as study new legislation which directly affects student performance (such as revisions to laws like No Child Left Behind).

Self-assessment sparks better student learning as students are reflecting on their learning and are able to see more clearly their strengths and weaknesses. To become lifelong learners self-assessment is essential. Self-assessment in post-primary schools helps students learn to learn (Sebba et al., 2008). ‘For example the explicit goals of the self-assessment might include identifying specific areas for future improvement. If this is achieved it might be regarded as an important outcome relating to learning to learn.’ (Sebba et al., 2008).
This learning and teaching process has greatly shaped and influenced my delivery methods and has vastly improved and strengthened my capabilities as an instructor. I believe the duty of an instructor is not limited to the effective delivery of the course material. An instructor must take a holistic approach in his classroom by inspiring and encouraging students to greater heights in order to achieve their full potentials. The instructor must help cultivate a good study habit and where applicable the instructor must inspire life lessons such as work ethics, confidence, independence and discipline. This information passed along to the students in a subtle way has the potential of shaping their lives positively long after they have taken the class and parted ways with the instructor.

In contemporary nursing practice, nurses need to integrate scientific knowledge and nursing theories prior to providing optimal health care. Nursing theories guide nurses to treat clients in a supportive and dignified manner through client centred approaches. However, it is challenge for nurses to practice client centred care in daily realities due to heavy workloads. In order to assist nurses to decrease the gap between ideal and real practice, Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) develops Best Practice Guideline of Client-centred-care (Neligan, Grinspun, JonasSimpson, McConnell, Peter, Pilkington, et al., 2002). This guideline offers values and beliefs as foundation of client-centred care, and the core processes of client-centred care can facilitate provision of optimal nursing care.
