Final Course Reflections
The purpose of this assignment is to reflect on the course from a learner’s perspective and write an autobiography regarding my experience. In this assignment, I will reflect on my perspective regarding scholarly language and terminology while discussing the successes and challenges synthesizing journal articles, the process for completing annotated bibliographies and performing journal critiques, and discuss and assess my critical thinking and writing skills. Additionally, I will discuss the concepts learned that will assist me in the future and my recommendations for the course that will assist doctoral students.
Scholarly language and terminology require thinking critically, comparing and contrasting information and ability to synthesize the information. This course developed my ability to read and think critically, compare and contrast information, and synthesize that information. This course has not been easy by any stretch of the imagination. Extensive time was spent researching topics, failing miserably at trying to synthesize the information fathered from researching the literature and improving incremental throughout the process. The lessons learned in this class will help me write much better papers in my other classes as I now understand how to think and write critically. Additionally, this class has instilled in me writing principles that I employ even at work as I now evaluate my emails for writing style, grammar, and tone before sending. As I advance through the doctoral program, I know the lessons learned in this class will assist me in writing scholarly papers in less time, with fewer errors, and more confidence now that I understand and have had practice in the concept of scholarly
