The obstacle I had to confront a problem my freshman year in high school. I entered into orchestra class to learn the basics of playing violin. I use to play before, but I forgot how it was played. Our teacher gave us a book to read called the “The Inner Game of Tennis.” Told us to look through it and find the deeper mean towards the book. I found it interesting that he gave us a book of tennis theme. The thing we should focus on is the position of our finger patterns and note names. Base on skimming through the book, I look every part from beginning to the end and saw nothing. I thought I was a failure just because I couldn’t see the thing he want us to focus on. I took my time again in reading the book slowly. Analyzing the book more thoroughly, I think I started to get the hang of the theme he wants us to learn from. I felt so ignorant because it was always there in front of me the whole time. …show more content…
For example using the basics in playing an instrument. You learn the notes in your key signature, and having learn your rhythm and your time signature. Basically you have this already figured out in under one minute. Once playing the instrument, the music sheet should be a just a reference sheet. Something you look when you just need to make a drastic change in dynamics or rhythm. Being two steps head shows dedications towards the lesson or goal you’re striving. To sum things up, the teacher showed a lesson towards the book “The Inner Game of Tennis” has more than the lesson of playing tennis. This book show the process of having the basics thing done and just continue to evolve your skills with it. Techniques and skills that are the key point is very important in life involvement. My teacher told us that keeping this mentality will help you continue to have a successful life if you keep this
I believe the most important concept that I gained from reading the book was to remain faithful, in good times and in bad. Walking blindly can be very terrifying, but God always has a plan for each and every one of us. At times, the plan remains unseen, and that should not deter or slow me on the path that my heart is yearning
...dage and Freedom. The way Tom broke both of these parts down in his way impressive. The chapter itself was very good but the two charts that I mentioned really caught my attention most of all. The chart of Judaism, Christianity, designed by Coffman. This was place strategically by Tom in a very good place in his explanation of this part of his book. Another example of a good gathering of your resources and placing them in good spots. The last two chapters are like the rest put together. Overall, this was a well-written book. It was easy to read and to understand. The more I read the book and didn’t put it down. It took me two days to read and the only reason I put it down between the days was that I fell asleep with it in my hands. When I see Tom, again I will personally thank him for writing this. I will also tell him that I got a lot out of it. Good Book!
This is my personal reflection about this book. First and foremost, I would like to say that this book is very thick and long to read. There are about nineteen chapters and 278 pages altogether. As a slow reader, it is a quite hard for me to finish reading it within time. It took me weeks to finish reading it as a whole. Furthermore, it is written in English version. My English is just in average so sometimes I need to refer to dictionary for certain words. Sometimes I use google translate and ask my friends to explain the meaning of certain terms.
This book was filled with many personal stories and information, but was not quite captivating. I found my mind wondering off in different directions while reading the story. Every chapter was set up the same way, without a change of pace, which was rather boring.
Performance psychology involves the process of facilitating the development of skills needed by the performer during his time to shine in a performance. Also, the process is almost entirely related to the events prior to the performance since they are the foundation of the desired result. This preparation involves practicing not only physically, but also mentally, psychologically, spiritually, and emotionally. In fact, the physical aspect of a performance has much less bearing than the mind and soul aspects. Tennis is a perfect example of this. No matter how much a player practices, if in the face of a match the player becomes too nervous, all of his body will freeze and will make unforced errors very easily. That used to happen quite often at the beginning of my matches until I managed to train my mind to stay focused on playing rather than winning. I also remember reading a book about tennis when I was about 8, and there was a question that said something like, “How much of a tennis match is technical, tactical, physical, and mental?” and several professional players answered by saying that the mental part contributes with just about the entire game. At first, since I had not experienced a real, challenging match before, I thought to myself, “No, that’s not right. It’s 25% each. It makes sense; it’s math”. Looking back I realize how silly my comment was because I had no idea what a true performance was like, and that the physical aspect although important, is more relevant in the preparation for a match. Any performance is made up of various smaller elements that each contribute to the big picture, just like the piece of a puzzle; however, each one has a unique placement that no other piece can fill in.
The following instructions apply to right-handed players as well as left-handed players with the slight adjustment in the use of opposite hands and feet. Before you begin to serve the ball, you would have to stand behind the baseline, on the opposite side of the service box. If you are serving towards your opponent’s right service box, you should be standing on the right side of your court. ...
Tennis. A sport that not many people know that much about. Sure, you hit the ball back and forth, but there is a lot more too it. The serve: You are responsible for starting the point. Everything has to go perfectly for a good serve. You toss it up. Bad toss. You do it again. That one looks better. For a
Love all. In tennis, this means the score is zero to zero. In my life, it means something very different. I love all the unique aspects of tennis, and how it has shaped who I am today. Tennis has taught me many important characteristics which will be carried with me for the rest of my life: discipline, integrity and leadership.
Knowing how to get your message across in the game of tennis is such a necessity. As a coach , re directing the kids
People of all ages, all around the world are participating and experiencing tennis, a sport of a lifetime. Ranging from young children to senior citizens, there is no age barrier for this popular sport. Playing tennis is a very healthy hobby for some, but for others, tennis is a lifestyle. Tennis professionals spend years developing their own tennis games so they can improve their skills and enhance the strengths of their students. Although numerous abilities and talents are needed to be a tennis director, helping people develop their tennis skills is a rewarding occupation for someone who loves the sport. A tennis director not only has to be an outstanding tennis professional but also has to have the knowledge of how to teach lessons, organize tournaments and clinics, hire and train staff, balance a budget, and maintain a facility.
As a competitive tennis player, I was used to training alone for competitions and playing every weekend. However, on the tennis team, there were thirty other girls who were beside me. Three weeks before the school year begins we train for 4 hours a day to get in shape for the season. The competitiveness and the spirit of the girls is what drives me to perfect every stroke. Even after I’m completely exhausted, I still want to go out there for a little more, just to push myself a little further and contribute to the team.
The game of tennis is not very popular in Pakistan. Initially tennis was played by the British in Pakistan and today it is legacy of those days and so it is not a common game in Pakistan and the common man at the grass root level is hardly aware how tennis is played, the ground and the gadgetry required so.
Tennis is a game, which rewards skill and technique. The roll of ‘winning by chance’ is minimized in tennis, in fact Pete Sampras, a tennis legend, had said, “The difference of great players is at a certain point in a match they raise their level of play and maintain it.” - it is the probability of the point that matters the most. I have been playing tennis since a tender age of 10 years and have experienced it first hand that
My love for tennis blossomed at the young age of eleven. During middle school my peers knew me as the boy who was remarkably talented at tennis and I savored that title. Butterflies floated throughout my youthful body whenever someone complimented me. As the years passed, my dad nurtured me into a top player. Before I knew it high school arrived and it was time to compete at a higher level. My excitement was out of this world, but I knew my dad could no longer push me forward and my future was up to me. However, the ego I developed over the years blocked what lie in front of me. I wasn’t looking at the bigger picture; the hard work demanded of me, teamwork, and the motivation to reach an ultimate goal. Throughout my four years of participating
Love means nothing—at least to a tennis player. When I started playing tennis as a young child, I was as good as any beginner ever is. However, as I practiced and the years went on, I became much better. Last year, I won the second doubles Mid-Penn championship with my partner and it was the best feeling in the world that I had experienced. Tennis has become a very important part of my life since I started playing for the high school my freshman year. Therefore, I desired to pass along my knowledge to potential future tennis players at the middle schools in the area. While accomplishing my senior project, I enjoyed the lessons I taught as well as the ones that I learned.
