Worry World Worry World is dark and foreboding. It is difficult to see what it looks like because it is constantly covered in thick, grey, damp clouds. On some days, the storms hit with a vengeance, sending the residence scurrying for their lives into homes which are equally dark and damp. On other days it just seems to rain, continuously and unrelenting. One thing is for sure, there is never even a gleam of sunshine in Worry World, because to have that would give the residents hope. Hope is a forbidden visitor to Worry World. Do not be anxious (worry) about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear. It is inevitable to have ups and downs in everyday life; however, to fear or not to fear, the person is in control. In John Connolly’s novel, The Book of Lost Things, people who arrive in Elsewhere all bring their own fears, and those fears color the events for everyone who lives there. First of all, people can become a better version of themselves once they overcome their own fears. Yet fear can sometimes impact people negatively, as it is often a weed growing over the roots of kindness. However, the fear of fear is the most dangerous kind of all because it is the basis of anxiety and panic attacks. Every character in The Book of Lost Things must face their fears at some point, but how they go about it makes all the difference.
How do people see the world? When communicating with others, thinking about oneself, and examining the world, each person adopts a specific lens through which they perceive their life. It has been stated that mental disorders like anxiety can dramatically alter this lens, shift a person’s worldview, or greatly modify their personality. It is my desire to study this phenomena and discover consistent differences in the perspectives of those with anxiety. I begin with a question: Do those with anxiety disorders bear a different and distinct perspective on universal concepts such as the world, life itself, and relation to others? Previous research seems to suggest that those suffering from anxiety disorders do hold these similar and distinct mindsets (Video).

Panic disorder is an anxiety-repeated disorder that affects approximately five percent of the population (Roy-Byrne, Craske, & Stein, 2006). A diagnosis of panic disorder requires that the individual experiences recurrent panic attacks with any of the following: worry about the possibility of future attacks, avoiding places or situations in which the individual fears a panic attack may occur, fear of being unable to escape or obtain help, or any other change in behavior due to the attacks (Roy-Byrne, Craske, & Stein, 2006). Panic attacks are often sudden and the sufferer usually experience physical symptoms such as autonomie, otoneurological, gastrointestinal,or cardiorespiratory distress (Roy-Byrne, Craske, & Stein, 2006). Individuals who suffer from panic disorder typically utilize medical services at a higher rate than those who do not have panic disorder, an impaired social life, and a reduced quality of life (Taylor, 2006). Often times those who suffer from panic disorder may also suffer from depression and general anxiety (Taylor, 2006). According to the Stanford University School of medicine, approximately 50 percent of patients diagnosed with panic disorder will develop depression and approximately 50 percent of depressed patients will develop panic disorder (Taylor, 2006). In addition those who suffer from panic disorder have a higher incidence of suicide, especially those with comorbid depression (Taylor, 2006). Not everyone who experiences a panic attack suffers from panic disorder (Roy-Byrne, Craske, & Stein, 2006). Everyone at some point have experience fear due to a situation that overwhelms us. This is an essential response of our bodies that can help us survive. However, when these fears are constant, they can disable an individual. Panic disorder (PD) it’s a mental illness that leads a person to have recurring panic attacks, (Strickland, 2001). Panic attacks in people with PD arise unexpectedly, situationally predisposed and / or by situations that remind them experienced dreadful events. PD can be categorized under two types: PD with or without agoraphobia. Agoraphobia is the fear of being in a situation or place in which the person thinks that would be difficult or embarrassing to escape. Some individuals develop agoraphobia after the first episodes of panic attacks; others acquire it years later, (Key, 2012).
Everything suddenly becomes unfamiliar and I’m no longer comfortable in my own skin. I’m absolutely terrified and unable to collect thoughts properly. Tormenting-thoughts shoot left and right through my brain and after each hit I find my heart beating faster by the second. My chest becomes tight and it is hard to breathe. I’m paralyzed with fear; it is impossible to find the right words to say, and I have a sudden aura of loneliness. I am having a panic attack.

Anxiety usually follows you throughout your life but for some people, it changes as you change and grow. You aren 't the same height as you were when you were 6, you grew. There’ s a chance that the anxiety you encounter works the same way. Some classic emotions remain the same throughout your life for the most part, but anxiety as a tendency to morph.
For over three years, I have suffered from social anxiety disorder and shattered my social life in the process. Social anxiety disorder, also known as social anxiety or social phobia, is a psychiatric disorder where the sufferer has a fear of being in social situations, and is unable to interact with other people. This might appear as bashfulness to those that lack understanding of the problem. However, this is a problem that is much more severe than that. Social anxiety has the potential to ruin peoples’ lives. By fearing other people, you become unable to communicate with them, and therefore you are unable to live a normal, everyday lifestyle.
Stress is in our everyday lives. We allow things such as the way we live, school, work, family, relationships etc to stress us out. Some people deal with stress way different from others. Some may know how to cope with stress better than others. We allow stress to take a major toll over our lives when we are suppose to fight it, but a lot of people can’t do that. Stress makes you act and do things that are not like yourself. Stress is a negative word; it comes in all different shapes and forms.
Fighting for others, for your own soul, your life, crying out, pouring out your situation, crying, praising Him, glorifying Him being on your knees, on your feet, sitting, shouting or whispering. Be yourself and ask for help, direction, wisdom and forgiveness, pray for others and your loved ones.
