Out of everything that we 've learned this quarter, goal setting was something that stood out to me. There are a few times where I set a goal in my head but end up never achieving them, wether it was something very simple or more of a long term goal. A technique that stood out to me in our notes is, writing down your goals. I don 't I 've ever written down a single goal that I 've had. In class and in our notes we talked about how it is important to write down your goals and how you cannot just write the general idea of your goal, but how you need to be very specific in what it is you want to achieve. I think that in college it 's very important to set long, mid, and short term goals because somedays will be harder than others and you need …show more content…
This is something that I 've never done before. I don 't know if it 's because I rarely set goals or if it 's because I often forget about certain goals I set but I think thats why this technique stood out to me. Besides writing down your goals reflecting on them is equally important. When you set a goal, you don 't know what will happen during the time between when you first set it and when you achieve it, so I think that reflecting on them is extremely important just to see if there are any obstacles that have come up or just to evaluate your goal and how much closer you are to achieving it. For example, one of my goals for the near future is to get a job, but as I reflected on this goal many obstacles have come up, so I made it my priority to get rid of those obstacles one at a time, so that I can focus on my original …show more content…
Trust yourself, and stay focused, although this seems very simple, it 's probably one of the hardest things to do. When your in school and you start to have doubts about if you can really get through those hard classes and you start rethinking if its really worth it, remember your initial goal. Trust in your abilities and remember that you have a right to be here. If you trust yourself and you stay focussed on your goal, you will, without a

They mentioned that students need to study but also take a break and be ready to learn and pay attention (Dopp, Austin, Parish). Powers and Swick mention in tip seven, celebrate small accomplishments along the way, is that you should celebrate your small accomplish like tests, quiz, and finishing you semester.
“After completing a military training program, (Student) will be employed (in field of interest or as specific job title).”
As a college freshman, I was worried about so many things coming into college. The biggest and most important thing was how to actually succeed in college. This course has helped me tremendously with succeeding in college. Throughout this semester, we have gone through multiple topics to help us succeed in college. The topics range from effective note taking, caring for yourself, how to succeed in college, understanding who you are, and also to planning your priorities. From taking this class, I have learned many strategies that helped me understand who I am as a person, how to take effective notes, and how to plan my time.
“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” (Keller) College is definitely a challenge, but it is also a very beautiful thing. Many students enter college expecting knowledge and a sense of direction. It may be hard to balance school between work, you’re social life, life at home, personal issues, etc. A few challenges that I know about all too well have to deal with money, transportation, and procrastination. You spend all of high school listening to your teachers and parents preparing you for what is to come in the near future. The truth is that there is only one way of truly learning, from experience.
Globalisation allows individuals, groups, corporations, and countries to reach around the world farther, faster, more deeply, and more cheaply than ever before. Most large local companies regard globalisation as opportunity, thereby exploring overseas markets for maximum market share and optimum business strategies. However, managers would face a series of challenges caused by leadership models, cultural backgrounds, political and economic risks, HR management, etc. To study multinational management skills is very useful for my future career. In this essay, I will set goals for this subject, identify the skills I have honed and need to improve, and explain my strategies for achieving goals.
Late night fire drills, early morning room evacuations, those are a few of the things that come to mind when I think about my first semester at UCF. I didn’t plan on taking five courses this semester but I did, and I am extremely proud of the progress I have made in each course. Learning how to effectively manage my stress, understanding the importance of setting short term goals and analyzing the amount of time spent effectively, are three of the main points I took away from SLS1501 this semester. The Other Wes Moore impacted me this semester in several ways. The main way I was impacted by this inspirational book was by understanding that not everything in my life is left up to just fate or just decisions. The goals I set for myself this semester
It is time to turn the tables and test the teachers on the challenge of college. Throughout high school, students are told all about how difficult college is and what to expect. Not yet having experienced it, the students typically prepare for the worst. They teach themselves how to study based on the standards of their high school. They write papers, do homework, and participate in class in the attempt to meet the expectations of their teachers. They base their picture of college off their teachers’ standards and what their peers say. While many high school students have developed accurate expectations regarding the difficulties of college, the study skills acquired in high school may not be enough to ensure success at the collegiate level.
The very first and most basic thing I learned this semester, was how to examine my study skills. Using the given self-evaluations I was able to gain a more complete understanding of my strengths and weaknesses as a student. I found that I excel at time management. I am not one to procrastinate and I am a very effective planner. Another personal area of strength in regard to study skills is my ability take notes. I have a very effective foundation in note-taking and this has continued into my undergraduate career. Although I am confident in my abilities as a student and do feel that I have a solid set of study skills, there is always room for improvement. I’ve learned this semesters that I could improve my skills in a variety of ways. The first, and easy step for a better studying experience would be to create a defined study space. I would be able to study in a more sophisticated manner if I spent my time at a clean desk with adequate lighting rather than in bed or on the floor. As a more complicated improvement, I could use some practice and/or skill training on learning how to differentiate what is crucial ...
Many issues and problems emerge in organizations that require action by leadership in order to maximize productivity. Because numerous decisions are made on any given day in an attempt for a school or organization to operate as smoothly as possible, constant effort and energy is required to monitor an organization’s culture. A problematic situation in my current organization that is rooted in employee motivation and attitudes is the lack of satisfaction communicated by group members. A year ago, the organization participated in a culture assessment that was conducted by the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA). This audit was ordered by our executive director because of the displeasure and dissatisfaction employees were communicating and displaying while at work. The
These 3 topics all need a responsible and ambitious student. During the course of the class each student will have multiple journal entries and this is where the student is granted the freedom to express themselves freely however they wish. Secondly, as I briefly discussed earlier something I strongly advise is to begin setting goals for the classroom. Walking into college motivation was something I struggled in which I could tell because of the downfall of my grades in class. Therefore I began to look at the bigger picture, the picture of me walking across the stage with a Bachelor’s Degree in my hand 4 years following. Once I was able to grasp how important school and grades were I began working harder to reach my goals. Setting goals played a huge factor in my first semester of
Without a doubt the lessons and exercises on time management were the most meaningful to me. They brought insight into why I seemed to be constantly working yet still never really got anything I wanted to accomplish throughout the day finished. I realized the majority of the activities I had been spending the most time on didn’t reflect my values of hard work and self discipline and long term academic goals to be successful in college. This motivated to completely change the way I managed my time by effectively striking a balance between my maintenance, committed, and free time.
Always remember that you’re not alone. Take something your good at. This is very important. If doing something we’re not interested in, most likely that we are not going to do well in that particular subject, so do what interest us. Another way to be confident is to take smaller class size. By doing this we will fell more comfortable taking to our teacher and being more open and free to talk to our classmates than a class room with two hundred and fifty students. Also, don’t underestimate yourself when being confident we need to turn off all negative thoughts. Yes, we will have downfalls but get right back up and start again. Don’t give up.
Dance for many other people may be going out to a nightclub with friends and partying the night away or dancing with family members at a family events. But dance means so much more to me, it is my passion, my driver force and my liberation from the outside world, I find my true purpose in dancing. Currently, as a dancer I see myself as a work in progress. I am not where I want to be technique wise, that is the reason I decided to take this class. I want to broaden my dance vocabulary, learn new ways to moves and expand my creativity while choreographing, these are my three goals for this semester in modern.
One of the three most appropriate On Course success strategies that will be best of use to achieve success for me in years to come is discover self-motivation. Defined by Downing as, “finding purpose in their lives by discovering personally meaningful goals and dreams” (296). Being able to use this strategy will be the key to my future success. Having motivation to do all the work given to me from my classes will keep me at a good grade. Passing my classes is what I need to do to reach my goal. I cannot do this without the fuel given to me by my motivation to finish to hard work and reach my destiny. Without my motivation there will be no desire to finish and accomplish what is really important and meaningful in life, and that is not what I want. A good example I keep in my mind to never repeat is senior year and the lack of motivation I had to finish up my last year. I ended with two C’s and that is very disappointing for me. Keeping this in mind will allow me to not lose motivation and keep thinking of the positive outcome because motivation is everything! Good concept to remembering motivation quoted by Downing, “…one formula explains much a...
